Dale Thomas

THOMAS, Mr. Dale M. - Age 55, passed away Monday January 10, 2011 at Hurley Medical Center. Familly hour 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 14, 2011 at New Heaven Missionary Baptist Church, G-3184 Pierson Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Dr. Fred S. White officiating. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, G-5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30 a.m. Friday. Mr. Thomas will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Thursday. Mr. Dale Maurice Thomas was born December 20, 1955 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Rhuben and Lillie Thomas. He was a member of New Heaven Missionary Baptist Church, where he served on the Usher Board and tried very hard to live a Christian Life. Dale was a graduate of Flint Central High School. He was captain of the wresting team from Junior High to High School. Dale was the star full back of Central High School and Ferris State University where he received a college scholarship. He also received an Associate Degree in Science and Art from Mott Community College. Dale worked for Chevrolet Manufacturing from 1976-1983 and was a member of UAW Local 659. He loved his children and made sure they were involved in sports. Dale wanted to spend all his free time with his children, teaching and educating them. He also loved serving the Lord and doing things for the church. Dale was a very friendly person who would do anything for friends and family including giving the shirt off his back. He was respectful and very intelligent. Mr. Dale Maurice Thomas leaves to cherish his memory: 6 children, Danica, Rhuben, Dale II, Marquise, Shyheem and Shamyia; 2 stepchildren, Stequaysha and Porscha; grandson, Quashaun; mother, Lillie Thomas; 5 sisters, June Walker, Eunice (Robert) Milton, Betty Perdue, Thresa and Deborah Thomas; brother, James (Burnestine) Thomas, all of Flint; 7 nieces, Valerie, Vickie, Jeanne and Veronica Walker, Nicole Milton, Andrea Thomas and Tashanda (Carl) Arthur; 7 nephews, Stacey Allen, Reginald Milton, Dawan Richard, James Jr., Reuben (Tonya) Thomas, Tony Thomas and Donte (Sarah) Thomas; 3 aunts, Margie Brady, Lillie M. Thomas, both of Flint and Roberteen Grayes of California; a host of cousins, other relatives and friends including cousin, Abraham Henry, adopted brother, Jimmie McGaughy, special nephews, Derrick Cochrane of Washington, D.C. and Dwight Thomas of Flint and mother of children, Maria Mitchell. Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by his grandparents; father; brother, Ivory Thomas; and 2 sisters, Norma Cochrane and Madeline Bell. The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Fred S. White and the New Heaven Missionary Baptist Church Family and Mother Ingram.
