Mr. Curtis Jr. Spence

SPENCE, Mr. Curtis - Age 64, passed away Monday, May 21, 2018 at his residence. Family hour 12:30 PM Wednesday, May 30, 2017 at New Heart COGIC, 501 W. York St, with funeral service commencing at 1:00 PM, Elder Robert Chambers, officiating. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, G-5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 12:30 PM Wednesday. Mr. Spence will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 1:00 PM-8:00 PM Tuesday. Mr. Curtis Junior Spence was born February 6, 1954 in Five Points, Alabama, the son of Jimmie Curtis Barker and Lillie Bell Spence. He was raised in Philadelphia, PA and as a teenage he and his family moved to Flint, Michigan. Curtis attended Flint Community Schools but left at an early age to help the family make ends meet. He also attended school in New York. Curtis was employed at Pepsi Cola and Attentive Industries. He loved fishing, traveling and socializing with family and friends. Curtis began attending church and gave his life to the Lord at New Heart Church Of God In Christ. Mr. Curtis Junior Spence leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Barbara Fay Spence of Flint; 3 daughters, Donye’ Stephens of Miami, FL, Azize Spence of Flint and LaJoyo McQueen of Indianapolis, IN; 5 grandchildren, Darrack Stephens Jr. of New York, NY, Deshawn Stephens of Florida, Darius Stephens of Buffalo, NY, Ava Boose of Flint and Lamar McGuire Jr. of Indianapolis, IN; 2 sisters, Donna Jimmerson of Flint and Mary McCurty of Lafayette, AL; brother, Willie James Barker; niece, Stephanie Westbrook, both of Flint; 3 nephews, Christopher Barker of Ohio, Jamie Curtis and Stephon Westbrook; aunt, Jesse Taylor “Aunt Bee”, all of Flint; uncle, Richard Spence of Jackson, MI; sister-in-law, Joy Lyles of Flint; 3 brothers-in-law, Michael Lyles of Clarksville, TN, Zachary Lyles of Kenansville, NC and Kerry Lyles of Nashville, TN; a host of relatives and friends including special friends, Karnyia Wade, Shirley Turner, Gary Thompson, Clark, Zadel, Jorraine Hardman and Robert Killins, all of Flint. Mr. Spence was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmie Curtis Barker and Lillie Bell Spence; grandparents, Linnie and Porter Spence, Roberta and Slim Jimmerson.
