JOHNSON, Mr. Curtis Sr. "CJ" - Age 74, passed away Monday, January 12, 2015 at Willowbrook Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation. Family hour 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at House of Prayer Missionary Baptist Church, 1851 Carpenter Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Pastor Kenneth L. Stewart officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Association, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Church 10 a.m. Tuesday. Mr. Johnson will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12 p.m. - 8 p.m. Monday. Mr. Curtis “CJ” Johnson, Sr. was born August 15, 1940 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas to Rosie Singleton and Smith Johnson. He relocated to Flint, Michigan where he graduated from Flint Northern High School. He was employed by Flint Metal Fabricating, a division of General Motors for many years and was a member of Local #659, serving as a Committeeman. Curtis was proprietor of The Trio, Jay Jay’s and Cee Jay’s Lounges for many years. He was a loving and devoted father, grandfather and an avid football fan. Mr. Curtis “CJ” Johnson, Sr. leaves to cherish his memory loving and devoted children: 2 sons, Vonroyce Johnson and Curtis “Kip” Johnson, Jr., 2 daughters, Naseera Crowder and Julisa (Minnie) Johnson, all of Flint; god-children, Jennifer Gillespie of Flint, Jimmie Jackson of Decatur, IL, Delanda Jackson of New Castle, DE and Brittney Edwards of Lansing, MI; 2 granddaughters, Chandrea Johnson of Dallas, TX and Shanaya Johnson of Grand Blanc, MI; 4 grandsons, Curtis Johnson III, Nasir Cleaves, Amir Cleaves, Taejon Johnson and Daijon Johnson, all of Flint; great-grandson, Chase Johnson; 4 sisters, Diane (Earl) Crowder, Rochelle Johnson, all of Flint, Deborah Johnson of Shreveport, LA, Vernice Grover of Gurnee, IL; 4 brothers, Bill (Ruthy) Quarles of Holly, MI, Smitty Tyrone Johnson of Marysville, MI, Sherrod Johnson and Smith Johnson, Jr., both of Dallas, TX; brothers-in-law, Winston Foote of San Francisco, CA; and a host of nieces and nephews including special nephew, Michael Boyd; cousins including special cousin, Josephine Sykes and dear friends including, William Long, Emmet Newhouse, Hershal Pritchett, Perry Gillespie; special and devoted friend, Regina Powell. Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by daughter, Christy Johnson; father, Smith Johnson, Sr.; mother, Rosie Singleton; grandmother, Arie Sims; sisters, Dorothy Jean Vickers and Betty Jean Foote; brother, Charles Johnson; aunt, Sallie Sykes; uncles, George Johnson, Landon Johnson, Jake Johnson and James Sims.
