Mr. Curtis W. Green Sr.

GREEN, Mr. Curtis W., Sr. - Age 80 passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at his residence. Family hour 11:00 AM Saturday, April 8, 2023, at 2nd Chance Church, 2070 W. Coldwater Rd., with funeral service commencing at 12:00 PM, Pastor Derrick Aldridge, officiating. Interment, Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Church 11:00 AM Saturday. Mr. Green will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM-6:00 PM Friday. Curtis William “Pencil” Green, Sr. was born May 29, 1942 in Citronelle, Alabama, the son of Robert and Lillian (Washington) Green. On June 6, 1963 he married the love of his life, Zenobia Turner. To this union, six beautiful children were born. Curtis was a graduate of Leaksville High School, Leaksville, AL where he was a star basketball player. After high school, he relocated to Flint, Michigan, to join General Motors Corporation, where he retired after more than 30 years of service. In 2007, Curtis joined 2nd Chance Church, where he was a faithful and dedicated member. Curtis was a simple man, who enjoyed the little things. When he wasn't spending time with his children and spoiling his grandkids, you could find him at the nearest fishing hole, relaxing, reminiscing and shooting the breeze. He enjoyed listening to music and was a very smooth dancer. In his presence, you were bound to catch a glimpse of that million-dollar smile, hear his infectious laugh or witness one mean two-step. A man of many talents, Curtis was an amazing storyteller, who had a way with words. His ability to paint a picture and bring stories to life, coined him the name, Mr. Buford. Mr. Curtis “Pencil” Green, Sr. leaves to cherish his memory: 4 daughters, Janice (Artel) Horton, Lana (Derrick) Aldridge, Gana Green and Angela Green; 2 sons, Curtis (Shawrice) Green and Corey Green; 2 adopted grandchildren, Giana and David Green; 25 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters-in-law, Johnnie Mae Turner, Citronelle, AL, Hazel (Willie) Johnson, Flint, MI and Betty Green, Chicago, IL and Sharon Turner, Citronelle, AL; 3 brothers-in-law, Frank (Patricia) Turner of Huntsville, AL, Lawrence Turner of Citronelle, AL and Jimmie (Letha) Turner of Flint, MI; a host of nieces and nephews who were ALL very special to him; special cousins, Marion (Billy) Mumford, Murtis (Snookem) Washington and James (James Edward) Washington; and loving step-mother, Deloris Green. Mr. Curtis Green, Sr. was preceded in death by his parents, Robert & Lillian Green, Sr.; his loving wife, Zenobia Green; sister, Gladys Beard; brothers, Robert (Joyce) Green, Jack Green and Gene Green.
