Ms. Crystal Sumpter

SUMPTER, Ms. Crystal - Age 47, passed away Sunday, October 6, 2013 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 1:30 p.m. Monday, October 14, 2013 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 2 p.m. Min. R. Brown, officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 1:30 p.m. Monday. Ms. Sumpter will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday. Ms. Crystal Lashun Sumpter was born May 11, 1966 in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Charles Edward and Willene Sumpter. She accepted Christ at an early age at Vernon Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church under the leadership of Pastor Rueben E. Russell. Crystal was an active Satellite Member of Redemptive Life Ministries in Dyersburg, TN led by Pastor Veronica Crudup for the past 15 years. She graduated and was Class President at Beecher High School, “Class of 1984.” Crystal received a Bachelor of Health Care Administration from the University of Michigan. She was employed by Genesee Bank for 5 years, UAW-GM Legal Services for 10 years and Genesee District Library for 15 years. Crystal enjoyed reading the Word of God first and foremost, both fiction and non-fiction novels. She was a former volleyball and bowling enthusiast. Crystal loved music, especially celebrating God and our Lord Jesus Christ. She had a warm heart and was thoughtful with a beautiful smile, a generous giver and was meticulous in her work ethics. Crystal was an honest, hard worker and a very loving mother. Ms. Crystal Lashun Sumpter leaves to cherish her memory: daughter, Charity Trashun Sumpter; parents, Charles Edward and Willene Sumpter of Mt. Morris, MI; 2 brothers, Edward Charles (Sara Grace) Sumpter of Battle Creek, MI and Lance Elliott Sumpter of Flint; niece, Synthia Grace Sumpter; nephew, Evan Charles Sumpter, both of Battle Creek, MI; 4 aunts, Arma Jean (Charles Sr.) Patton of Kiblah, AR, Erma Jean (Min. Charles) Robertson of Texarkana, AR, Othella Strickland and Travistine (Min. Donell) Johnson, all of Kiblah, AR; 5 uncles, C.W. Sumpter, Jr., Carl Letha Sumpter, both of Flint, Huey (Felicia) Smith of Wake Village, TX, William (Adrenal) Smith of Mt. Morris, MI and Chester (Carolyn) Smith of Kiblah, AR; god-mother, Mae Kathryn Spearman; 2 god-daughters, Shimikka Brooks and Brittany George; a host of cousins, other relatives and friends. Ms. Sumpter was preceded in death by her grandparents, C.W. and Ruth Sumpter, Sr., Haglar and Nola Smith; 4 aunts and 4 uncles.
