Mr. Creadell McDonald

MCDONALD, Mr. Creadell - Age 72, passed away Saturday, January 16, 2016 at his residence. Family hour 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 29, 2016 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Rev. Henry L. Fuller, officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy., Mt. Morris, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:30 a.m. Friday. Mr. McDonald will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12 p.m. - 8 p.m. Thursday. Mr. McDonald was the father of Betty Turner, Rose McDonald and Michael McDonald. Mr. Creadell “Shorty” McDonald was born July 26, 1943 in Tarry, Arkansas, the son of Bennie and Mattie McDonald. He attended Lincoln School System in Star City, AR. “Shorty” worked on a farm and drove a tractor in the south in his early years. He later moved from the south to the north and worked as a Construction Worker for C.J. Rogers Corporation. After retirement he became a full time handyman. There was very little he couldn’t do when it came to home repair; he was very skilled. “Shorty” was so good, his daughter’s husband’s didn’t have a chance with repairs. The girl’s didn’t think anybody could measure up to dad’s skills. He enjoyed having a good time and having a party. “Shorty” was very generous in giving. He shared whatever he had and always had a special heart for children. His favorite was his great-grandson, Jalen. He loved all of his grandchildren, but he had a special love for Jalen, he was his “boy.” “Shorty” loved gardening and fishing. He enjoyed playing baseball, and played Short Stop on Tarry’s baseball league. Creadell had a love for music, playing the Blue and listening to old school music. He also enjoyed watching football and basketball. Mr. Creadell “Shorty” McDonald leaves to cherish his memory: 2 daughters, Betty (Marvin) Turner and Rose M. McDonald; son, Michael R. McDonald, all of Flint; grandchildren, Dr. Brittne Halford (Kevin) Simon, NaTasha Smith, Gerald Williams, Generald Williams, Andre Smith, Rodney Halford, Michaer Garner, Garitt Williams, Michael McDonald, Anijah Taylor and Antwhon Taylor; 3 great-grandchildren, Demani Moore, Lydia Dover and Jalen Smith; 3 sisters, Patricia Manley of Stockton, CA, Virgia (David) Allen and Angelia (Emerald) Huggins, all of Grady, AR; 7 brothers, James McDonald of Stockton, CA, Clarence McDonald of Cabot, AR, MC (Ella) Armoster, Irvin McDonald, both of Grady, AR, Wyvone McDonald, Alan (Sara) McDonald and Alvin (Cynthia) McDonald, all of Pine Bluff, AR; sister-in-law, Kimberly (Jesse) Carpenter; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins including special cousin, Catherine Callaway, other relatives and friends including special friends, Ernesto Brazil, Tremell Richards, Renéa Jordan, Dion Williams, and the Philadelphia Blvd. Crew, Nakia Clark, Charmaine Taylor and Kevyn Jackson. Mr. McDonald was preceded in death by his wife, Richlean McDonald; daughter, Valerie McDonald; grandson, Donald Halford; parents, Mattie and Bennie McDonald; sisters, Verenesteene Allen, Bennie Hawkins and Bobbie Haynie; brothers, Robert, Charlie, Andrew, Larry and Theodis McDonald; nephew, Derrick McDonald.
