DAVIS, Mrs. Cora Lee - Age 82, passed away Wednesday, November 10, 2010. Family hour 10 a.m. Thursday, November 18, 2010 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing immediately at 11 a.m., Bishop Lessie Jackson officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10 a.m. Thursday. Mrs. Davis will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 12Noon-8 p.m. Wednesday. Mrs. Cora Lee Davis was born July 21, 1928 in Vance, Mississippi, the daughter of Josephine and James White, Sr., she was one of 6 children that included her two brothers, Frank and James White, Jr. and 2 sisters, Caldonea and Claudine. Cora was united in Holy Matrimony to Otha Davis in 1953, to this union eight children were born, Herbert, Mary, Willie Lee, Josephine, Lessie, Joe Otha, William and Cornell Young. Cora was a foster grandparent and a home help nurse. She enjoyed singing and going to church where she worked diligently on the Mother’s Board and as a Deaconess. Mrs. Davis was also a Eastern Star and a hairstylist. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. Mrs. Davis also enjoyed cooking, quilting, fishing and shopping. She leaves to cherish her memory: 8 children, Herbert (Earnestine) Almo, Mary Fleming, Willie Lee (Theresa) Davis, Josephine (Roscoe) Morris, Lessie (James) Jackson, Joe Otha (Marietta) White, William (Sheila) Davis and Cornell Young; 37 grandchildren; 77 great grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Caldonea Vanorsdel and Claudine Bickcom; 2 brothers, Frank (Anna Bell) White and James (Curlee Mae) White, Jr.; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and dear friends including, special friend, Curldean Thames. Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her husband, Otha Davis; parents, Josephine and James White, Sr.; and brother, David White. The family would like to express special thanks to nurses, Shannon and Stephanie of AZ Home Care and Genesys Hospice.
