MATTHEWS, Ms. Constance - Age 52, passed away Saturday, November 26, 2005 at her residence. Family hour 10AM Saturday, December 3, 2005 at Grace Emmanuel Baptist Church, 3502 Lapeer Rd, with funeral service commencing at 11AM. Pastor Marvin A. Jennings, officiating. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10AM Saturday. Ms. Matthews will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12Noon-8PM Friday. Ms. Constance Louise Matthews was born March 4, 1953 in South Bend, Indiana, the daughter of Sammie and Helen (King) Matthews. In 1958, she relocated to Flint, and graduated from Flint Central High School "Class of 1971." Connie became a member of Grace Emmanuel Baptist Church April 13, 1997. Constance retired with 21 years of service from Buick City, a division of General Motors Corporation. She was also a member of UAW Local 599, and took an active role in the Union Label Committee. Connie was also an entrepreneur as a licensed cosmetologist. She owned and operated the Beauty Unlimited Salon for over 10 years. Connie's love and genuine care was generated through her warm smile. She was concerned about others and continually gave all she could unconditionally. Constance Louise Matthews leaves to cherish her memory: son, Robert E. Matthews of Flint; parents, Sammie L. Matthews of Flint, and Helen (King) Matthews of Greenville, MS; step-parents, Mrs. Maudine Matthews of Flint; 2 brothers, Samuel Matthews of New Hudson, MI and Jerry Matthews of St. Louis, MO; 4 nephews, Taj Jackson of Grand Rapids, Rahman Matthews of New Hudson, MI, Darius Matthews of Melvindale, MI, Jonathon Matthews of Flint; 4 aunts, Geraldine Layton of Greenville, MS, Juanita Donnell and Naomi Johnson, both of Los Angeles, CA, and Gloria (Melvin) Fuller of Atlanta, GA; 3 uncles, Percy (Ann) Matthews of Apple Valley, CA, David (Alfreda) Matthews of Atlanta, GA, Adolph (Margaret) King of Miami, FL; numerous cousins; sister-in-law, Charlotte Rene' (Hodges) Matthews of New Hudson, MI; many other relatives and friends including special friends, Edith Richards, Barbara Beasley, Deza Hatter, Jerome Buckley, Alicia Childs, and Lula Jolly. Constance Louise Matthews was preceded in death by her grandparents; sister, Versenetta Jean Matthews of Flint. The family would like to express special thanks to Pastor Marvin A.
