Cloteal Boyd

BOYD, Mrs. Cloteal - Age 66, passed away Thursday, May 27, 2010 at her residence. Family hour 11 a.m. Saturday, June 5, 2010 at Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church, 1258 Humphrey St., with funeral service commencing at 12Noon, Rev. Edward Burns officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Cemetery, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11 a.m. Saturday. Mrs. Boyd will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 1-8 p.m. Friday. Mrs. Cloteal Boyd was born December 25, 1943 in Dubach, Louisiana, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William and Annie B. (Andrews) Banks. Cloteal was a resident of Flint, Michigan since 1967. She accepted Christ at an early age at Hopewell Baptist Church in Dubach, LA, under the leadership of Rev. W.L. Carr. Upon moving to Flint, she became a member of First Union Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Archie Powell, Sr. Sis. Boyd was a member of Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church, where she served on the Usher Board until her health failed. She retired from Buick Plant 36, a division of General Motors with 30 years of service and was a member of UAW Local 599. Everyone that knew and loved Sis. Boyd knew her children and grandchildren were her life. She leaves to cherish her memories: 3 daughters, Gwendolyn Gillespie, Annia Banks, both of Flint and Veronica Cochran of Saginaw, MI; son, Gregory L. Banks of Dubach, LA; 14 grandchildren, Deon (Monica) Banks, Deonta Banks, Raymond Banks, Malcolm Banks, DeMario Banks, Cloteal (Antonio) Gillespie, DeMarcus Cochran, Maurice Arnold, Deonna Banks, Treanna Banks and Kanina Banks, all of Flint, DeVonta Cochran, Michael and Mikala Breedlove of Saginaw, MI; 12 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Ozelia (Henry) Milton of Akron, OH and Kamala (Keith) Lowe of Flint; 2 sisters-in-law, Jean Banks of Flint and Mary Jule Banks of Bernice, LA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Mrs. Boyd was preceded in death by her parents, William and Annie B. Banks; sisters, Darlene Sanders, Willie B. Banks, Marsha Y. Johnson and Gwendolyn Davis; and brothers, Lloyd, Norman and J.W. Banks. The family would like to express special thanks to McLaren Regional Medical Center 5th floor ICU, Dr. Eliender and the Great Lakes Cancer Institute, McLaren Hospice especially Nurse Lonna, Rev. Edward Burns and her Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church family.
