Mr. Clifton Charles Smith

SMITH, Mr. Clifton Charles - age 61, passed away Thursday, September 4, 2014 at his residence. Mr. Smith may be viewed from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. Wednesday, September 10, 2014 from 12 p.m.-8 p.m. Afterwhich, he will be taken to Pennant Funeral Home, 1423 Madison St., Bastrop, LA 71220 (318) 281-5330. Interment Hill Cemetery, Eudora, AR. Mr. Clifton C. Smith “Hippie” was born May 14, 1953 in Eudora, Arkansas, the son of Claude Jack and Odessia (Hooker) Smith. He graduated from Eudora High School in 1972 and moved to Flint, Michigan. Clifton was employed and Chevrolet, a division of General Motors for 18 years, then worked for Meals on Wheels program in Flint for 6 years. He was also Caregiver for his roommate until his illness. Clifton loved caring for his great-nephews, cooking for his grandchildren, playing basketball and talking with his neighbors. His earthly mission was completed on Thursday, September 4, 2014 at home with his sisters. Mr. Clifton C. Smith “Hippie” leaves to cherish his memories: companion, Sandra Faye Diggs; daughter, LaKenya (Chris) Sheppard; 3 sons, Tristan (Jalisa) Smith, Javon Strong and Clifton Smith, Jr.; grandchildren, Zakiyah Hodo, Tavarus Hodo, Ivan Hopson, Jr., Kanye Hopson, Shamari Sheppard, Heaven Smith and Tristan Smith, Jr; great-granddaughter, A’shayla Hodo; 2 sisters, Dollie M. Smith and Delbra A. Smith, all of Flint; 5 brothers, Kenny Smith of El Paso, TX, Jimmy Smith, Claude Smith, Jr., Randy Smith, all of Eudora, AR and adopted brother, Bobby Smith of New Port, AR; 10 nieces; 14 nephews; aunt, Louise Smith of Chicago, IL; 3 sisters-in-law, Linda Smith of Eudora, AR and Sandra Smith of El Paso, TX; a host of other relatives and friends including special friend, John Travis Jackson. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his son, Zachery Smith; parents, Claude Jack and Odessia Smith; brother, Lewis “Donney” Smith. The family would like to express special thanks to his niece, Fanashea Johnson, Tiwan Clark, Marcella Clark, Hurly Medical Center ICU 4th floor staff, Heartland Hospice, Dr. R.
