HOUSTON, Mr. Clifford - Age 96, passed away Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at Wellbridge of Fenton. Family hour 10:00 Saturday, November 23, 2024, from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Interment Flint Memorial Park, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy, Mt. Morris, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home, 10:00 AM Saturday, November 23, 2024. Mr. Houston will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12:00 PM-6:00 PM Friday with family present to receive friends from 4:00 PM-6:00 PM. Pastor Clifford Houston was born March 31, 1928, in Talladega, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his parents, Warner and Lillie Mae Houston, daughter, Rosa Lena Patterson, son, Donnie Eugene Houston, grandson, Tyrone Manuel Williams, sons-in-law, Thaddous Carl Williams Sr., Herman Richardson, and Gregory Houston. Mr. Houston received his former education in the State of Alabama. In 1965, he migrated from the south, relocating with his family to the City of Flint, MI. As a Construction Worker he landed employment with Sorensen Gross Construction Company, proudly retiring under the Michigan Laborers’ Union, Local 1075, in November, 1982. Mr. Houston received his Ministerial License from the State of Michigan on September 20, 1969, and was ordained as an Elder, on September 16, 1970. He was the Founder, Overseer, and Pastor of True Light Holiness Church in the City of Flint, MI. He also, served as Pastor at Triumph the Church and Kingdom of God in Christ, under the leadership of the late Pastor, Edgar Threets Jr. Elder Houston served his last years in the ministry as a supporting pastor at Pentecostal Temple Church of God in Christ, under the leadership of the late Pastor, James Paul Sanders in Flint, MI. His outreach ministry over many decades helped transform the lives of many throughout the community as he ministered the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the lost, often proclaiming a familiar passage of scripture from John 3:16, which says, “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life.” He gave a lifetime of service to his faith, family and community with passion and integrity. Pastor Clifford Houston leaves to cherish his memories: his beloved wife of 70 years, Odessa Houston; sons and daughters, Joe (Anniken) Johnson of Oslo Norway, Clifton Houston, of Flint, Levan (Joyce) Whiteside of Mt. Morris, MI, Melvin (Miranda) Houston, Roy Houston, all of Atlanta, GA, Maudell Houston of Flint, Linda Williams of Mt. Morris, MI, Celia Williams of Flint Township, MI, Felicia Richardson of Flint, and Jessie (Joe) Ryan of Novi, MI; sisters, Juanita (Bill) Word, of Lansing, MI, Tiny (Rodger) Reynolds of Seat Pleasant, MD and Margaret Jones of New Park, PA; as well as other extended family members, Cameron Houston and Marie Houston, both of Flint, MI; with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
