Clarence McClinton

McCLINTON, Mr. Clarence - Age 86, passed away Monday, December 24, 2007 at Genesys Regional Medical Center. Family hour 10:30AM Saturday, December 29, 2007 at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, G-5443 N. Saginaw St., with funeral service commencing at 11AM. Pastor Alfred L. Harris, Sr., officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30AM Saturday. Mr. McClinton will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12Noon-8PM Friday. Mr. Clarence McClinton was born October 24, 1921 in Sumner, Mississippi, the son of Pleas and Elvira (Keller) McClinton. Clarence was raised in Mound Bayou, Mississippi. He served during WWII in the United States Army and moved to Michigan after the war. Clarence was a member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church. He was employed at General Motors-Fisher Body I and was a member of UAW Local #581, retiring in 1984 with 33 years of service. Clarence enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, traveling and spending time with family and friends. He loved his wife Hazel McClinton and loved his children. Clarence was a down to earth person who never met a stranger. All of those who knew him enjoyed his fun loving spirit and sense of humor. He leaves to cherish his wife of 28 years, Hazel McClinton; 8 children, Alma, James (Anita), Claire "Squeaky", Clarence "Ray" (Pat) all of Flint, Charles "Ken" of Denver, CO, Michael (Brenda) of Arlington, TX, Marcia of Fenton, MI and Vernon (Debbie) of Clarkston, MI; 7 stepchildren, Odessa (Henry) of Chicago, IL, Earl of Cordova, TN, Willie (Faye) of Hughes, AR, Clester of Flint, Archie of Jonesboro, AR, Lee Andrew (Evelyn) of Cordova, TN, and Donna of Flint; 35 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; 1 aunt, Leatrice "Fluffy" Cleveland of Flint; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including special friends, Joan Van Hurley, Robert Coleman, Sr., and Ed Hutchinson. Mr. McClinton was preceded in death by his parents, Elvira and Pleas McClinton; stepmother, Helen; brother, Caleb; 2 sisters, Oleana Mears and Mageline "Doll" Myrick. The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Tommy Stevens and Genesys Health Park ICU staff, Pastor Alfred L. Harris, Sr. and the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church family.
