WASHINGTON, Sis. Clara O. - Age 89, passed away Thursday, April 30, 2009 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Family hour 11AM Thursday, May 7, 2009 at Canaan Baptist Church, 910 E. Gillespie St., with funeral service commencing at 11:30AM, Pastor Charles E. Roots officiating. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11AM Thursday. Sis. Washington will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12Noon-8PM Wednesday. Sis. Clara O. Washington was born June 22, 1919 in Homer Claiborne, Louisiana, the daughter of Fulton and Cora (Carter) Tims. Sis. Washington later moved to Sheridan, Arkansas, where she attended Sheridan Public Schools. She accepted Christ at an early age at Sheridan Missionary Baptist Church. Clara was United in Holy Matrimony to James Washington February 3, 1940 in Sheridan, Arkansas. They later relocated to Flint, Michigan in 1952. Clara was a member of Canaan Baptist Church for over 50 years, where she loved going to church and working with the Nurses Guild. She retired from General Motors Turnstead. Her hobbies included walking at the Genesee Valley Mall, sewing, making jewelry and gardening. Sis. Clara O. Washington leaves to cherish her memory: 2 daughters, Loretta Gray and Carolyn Washington; grandchildren, Ray A. Gray, Constance (Gene) Ragland, all of Flint, Rhonda Allmon of Birmingham, AL, Jeffrey (Amy) Washington, Lisa (Bertram) Lawrence of Flint, Kevin (ShaWanda) Washington of Davison, MI, Vaughn Washington of Flint, James (Sheila) Washington of Port Huron, MI, Yolanda Henry of Louisville, GA and Jamal (Tomika) of Hiram, GA; great-grandchildren, Schenice (Quinn) Mays, Eugene Q. III, Monique Ragland, Latrice, Taylor, Bertram Lawrence, Jr., Alyssia, Ashley, Jorden, Shvon, Shice, Vaughn Jr., Nataisha, James IV, Brittney and Jordyn Nicole Washington, Curtis and Alex Henry; great-great-grandchildren, Quinndrell, Jr. and Quaevon Mays; brother, Oray (Flordia) Tims of Detroit, MI. Sis. Washington was preceded in death by her husband, James Washington, 1957 in Flint; 3 sons, Willie Earl, Joe Willie and James Wesley Washington; 4 sisters, Beatrice Ware, Vera White, Rosie Singleton and Lela Mae Johnson; and brother, J.D. Tims. The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. M. Perez-Pascula, M.D. and Dr. Sukamal Saha and staff, the Great Lakes Cancer Institute, Pastor and Sister Charles E.
