ROBERTS, Mr. Christopher Lewis aka "Christol Ball" "Jelly Roll" - Age 41, passed away Saturday, February 11, 2012 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 12:30 p.m. Saturday, February 18, 2012 at Heavenly Host Full Gospel Baptist Church, 2202 W. Dartmouth, with funeral service commencing at 1 p.m. Pastor Johnny Jackson officiating, Bishop M.C. Akins, Host Pastor. Family and friends will assemble at the church 12:30 p.m. Saturday. Mr. Roberts will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12Noon- 8 p.m. Friday, with family present from 6-8 p.m. Mr. Christopher Lewis Roberts aka “Jelly Roll” and “Christol Ball” was born April 15, 1970 the youngest son of Oscar and Carrie Roberts. Christopher was a resident of Flint his entire life. He attended the Flint Community Schools ending with Flint Central High School. Christopher was a member of Greater Zion Baptist Church working with the Sound and Music Ministry. He had three children, Quintrel Roberts, Christopher Roberts and Kristie Sanchez before uniting in Holy Matrimony with Coretta L. Jones and to this union two children were born, son Juwan Roberts and daughter, Jocelyn Roberts. Christopher was a fun living young “Old Man” wise beyond his years. He was the best Barber in Flint, could “Cut you up” or “Fade you out” in 5 to 10 minutes. We gone miss you “Jelly Roll.” He leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Coretta Lavette Roberts; 5 children, Quintrel Roberts, Christopher Roberts, Kristie Sanchez, Juwan Roberts and Jocelyn Roberts; parents, Oscar Lee Roberts and Carrie Lue Roberts; 2 sisters, Sharon A. (Albert) Burgess and Susan M. (Garrett) Thomas; 10 nieces; 12 nephews; aunt, Evelyn Strickland; uncle, George (Shirley) Jones of Huntsville, AL; mother-in-law, Hannah Jones; sister-in-law, Lisa (James) Terry; 3 brothers-in-law, Charles (Dawn) Jones, Oscar (Rosa) Jones and Andre (Mary) Young; a host of cousins, other relatives and friends including godchildren, Aliyyah Blakley, Jazanay Williams, Jarod Augustine, Jr., Tiffany Culbreath, Jordan Dompreh and everyone too many to name knew you were special to Chris. Mr. Roberts was preceded in death by his father, Oscar Lee Roberts; grandparents, Johnnie and Julia Render; 5 uncles; 4 aunts; and father-in-law, Charles Jones. The family would like to express special thanks to the staff of Hurley Medical Center 4th floor CCU and 5th floor ICU, Pastor Johnny Jackson and First Lady Jackson, Ms. Dabora Smith, Bishop M.C. Akins and First Lady Akins and the Heavenly Host Full Gospel Baptist Church family.
