BURNETT, Ms. Christine - Age 76 passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10:00 AM, Wednesday, August 5, 20020 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM, Pastor Morris Collins, officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Chapel 10:00 AM Wednesday. Mrs. Burnett will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12:00 PM-6:00 PM Tuesday. Mrs. Christine Burnett was born June 4, 1944 in Memphis, Tennessee, the daughter of Sanford and Addie Mae Gibbs. She came to Flint, Michigan in 1968 with her husband of 51 years. Christine was a member of Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church. She loved her church and especially her Pastor, Morris A. Collins and his lovely wife, Sis. Delonda Collins. Christine was a wife, a mother and had the most honorable job in which she loved, raising her two children in admonition of God. Christine taught them to love the Lord, respect the House of the Lord and always stressed “You do what’s right, don’t worry about nobody else”. She was a woman of dignity and courage and most of all she loved the Lord with all her heart. Christine was a Sunday School Teacher, sung in the Choir and was available for any service needed to praise & worship the Lord. Mrs. Christine Burnett leaves to cherish her memory; husband, George L. Burnett; daughter, Michelle R. Battle; son, Michael R. Burnett, all of Flint; 3 step-children, Doug Burnett and family of Colorado, Ronnie Burnett and family of Georgia and Roy Burnett and family of Mississippi; sister, Emma McCloud of Elmsford, NY; 2 brothers, Sherman A (Bertha) Gibbs and Cleveland Gibbs, both of Yonkers, NY; brother-in-law, B.W. (Deloris Jean) Burnett; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. Mrs. Burnett was preceded in death by her parents, Sanford Gibbs and Addie Mae Gibbs; 6 sisters; and 2 brothers. The family would like to express special thanks to Pastor Morris A. Collins and the Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, Fresenius Dialysis Center, Hurley Medical Center, 5E co-workers from Hurley Critical Care Stepdown Unit and Mass Transportation Authority.
