Mrs. Christine Brown

BROWN, Mrs. Christine - age 74, passed away Sunday, July 6, 2014 at her residence. Family hour 10 a.m. Saturday, July 12, 2014 at North Star Missionary Baptist Church, 1657 Broadway Blvd. with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Pastor James O. Flowers, Sr. officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy., Mt. Morris, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10 a.m. Saturday. Mrs. Brown will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed from 1 p.m.-8 p.m. Friday. Mrs. Christine Brown was born on September 8, 1939 in Thomaston, GA, the daughter of Ulysee and Bessie Holmes. She was a member of North Star Missionary Baptist Church for over 30 years. Her love was singing, playing music and performing as “Mother Hollygood”. She was also a foster grandparent for many years. Christine was a lunch lady at Martin School and all the kids called her “Grandma”. She loved cooking, playing cards and just enjoyed life to the fullest. She was a member of many music groups. Christine loved her children and grandchildren, nieces and nephew very much, but above all she loved the LORD and singing praises to and glorifying His name. Mrs. Christine Brown leaves to cherish her memory: children, Andriana (Khalifa) Smith of Flint, Cecilia (Arnold) Young of Carmel, IN, Robert Nelson of Indianapolis, IN, Sarita Nelson, Margaret Nelson, Tracy (Alfonso) Martin, Necola (Rodney) Nelson all of Flint, Charles (Wanice) Brown of Mt. Morris, MI, Herbert Brown of Flint, Martraco Brown of Saginaw, MI, Kelvine Brown, Inez Kentucky and Darquavious Brown all of Flint; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, other relatives and a host of special friends. Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by: parents, Ulysee and Bessie Holmes; 1st husband, Cecil Nelson, 2nd husband, Herbert Brown; 2 infant children; sister, Margaret E. Haywood.
