BROWN, Ms. Christine - Age 65, passed away Friday, May 29, 2026, at her residence. Family hour 10:30 AM Monday, June 8, 2026, at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, 2115 W. Coldwater Rd. Flint, MI., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM Dr. Michael Pettigrew, Host Pastor, Pastor Edward McCree officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy, Mt. Morris, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Church 10:30 AM Monday. Ms. Brown will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed from 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM Sunday. With profound sadness and unwavering faith, we announce that Christine Brown peacefully transitioned to be with the Lord on May 29, 2026, at the age of 65. Born on June 8, 1960, in Flint, Michigan, to the late Willie Lee and Lucille Harwell Brown, A proud Viking, Christine graduated from Flint Northern Senior High School, “Class of 1979.” As a dedicated public servant, she spent her career working within municipal government and was a dedicated campaign worker for numerous federal, state, and local elected officials. She fiercely advocated for community rights and passionately helped those less privileged than herself. Christine was baptized at an early age and remained a lifelong, faithful member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. Under the pastoral leadership of the late Dr. Lewis Randolph, she served faithfully on the Hospitality Committee, the Nurses Ministry, and Pastor Randolph’s 30th Anniversary Celebration Committee, always willing to help in the ministry where needed. She continued her servitude to the Antioch Church family under the pastoral leadership of Dr. Edward L. McCree II. She was also a faithful supporter and often attended the Great Lakes Baptist District Association's yearly conventions under the leadership of the late Dr. Henry Lyons and many other great Baptist leaders. She shared her beautiful voice as a member of the City-Wide Choir. Christine has always been a devoted fan of Jesus Christ and has been a true soldier for many. She was a knowledgeable and passionate reader of scripture. Regardless of her imperfections, successes, failures, and life’s disappointments, she knew and loved the Lord. No matter how hard the storms of her life were raging, she remained guided and encouraged by her favorite saying: “Nobody But God.” Christine fought a good fight throughout her life’s journey, and she kept the faith. Christine was not perfect, but she was the perfect one to serve as the cornerstone of her family, an awesome caregiver to her baby brother “Choo” and her father until their passing. Her greatest joy was her family and closest friends. She was a profoundly devoted sister, and lovingly considered her sister Connie “her second mother.” She was an exceptional, loving, caring aunt to her nieces and nephews, whom she affectionately called her "Tee-babies." And without question, she was a devoted friend. Christine was a vibrant soul, known affectionately by many as “Red” the “Snapper” “diva” and for her unique personality. She was bold with her verbal expressions, a fierce force to be reckoned with, an independent trailblazer, a fighter, protector, and a confidante. She was known for her good heart, infectious laugh, and signature fashion style. She brought joy to every room and always looked out for the less fortunate. Those who really knew her knew she was an avid lover of good food. In her youth, she was a skilled softball player privileged to be coached by her parents and brother. Though she eventually stepped off the field, her love for the game never diminished, making her a permanent fixture at the softball games at Berston Field House and Jackson Park. Christine was a force of nature who lived her life on her own terms, inspiring everyone around her to embrace life fully and love deeply. She loved playing spades and was considered an expert spades player by many. Yes, like so many imperfect Christian believers, she loved playing the lottery and taking casino trips unapologetically. She loved music, especially the sounds of Johnnie Taylor and his hit song “Last Two Dollars.” Her favorite gospel song was "I Want Jesus to Walk with Me" by the Williams Brothers. Christine exemplified the true spirit of faithful friendship and loyalty. As family and friends, we navigated life’s journey together with Christine, and her memory as a loving sister, devoted aunt, friend, and caring confidante will forever be cherished in our hearts. She has left an enduring mark on her family, friends, church family, and the community, truly representing the heart and soul of a “True Warrior.” Christine’s circle of love was too vast to name each person individually. We invite you to look over the program and quietly read the names of the beloved family, friends, and neighbors who held a special place in her heart. While we could not list every life she touched, we pray you know how much your love, friendship, and presence meant to her and the family. A Legacy of Love and Friendship Christine leaves to cherish her beautiful memory and legacy to her siblings: two sisters, Cornell “Connie” (James) Walton of Flint, MI, and Patricia Brown of Atlanta, GA; bonus sister, Wyntis Hall; three brothers: Finis Harwell of Nashville, TN, Tony (Jackie) Brown of Tennessee, and Roger Hood of Flint, MI; along with a host of devoted nieces and nephews, including 5 nephews: Finis Harwell, Anthony Harwell, James Cornell Walton, K’saun Brown, and Jacob Brown; 9 nieces: Mia Ray Brown, Nicole (Phillip) Shanks, Janaē Christine Walton, Christina (Joe) Beverly, Vonda Brown, Chanel Brown, Jada Brown, Colby Brown, and Jasmine Whitmire; 9 great-nephews: Finis “Tre” Harwell III, Jaylen Walton, Sean Johnson, Phillip Shanks Jr., Mason Shanks, Jaidyn “JJ” Walton, Jaicyon Walton, Braylen Beverly, and Quinest Johnson; 5 great-nieces: Harper Harwell, Savannah, Mynaisha Johnson, ReNisha Smith, and Kahri Biggs; and 1 great-great-nephew: Kaison Finnie. Many godchildren survive her, including special godson Markis King. Many other relatives, extended family, and friends survive, including special cousins: Erma Shaw, Hippie, Clara, Charlene, Sheila, Cookie, Marsha, Pastor Arron Marble of Tennessee, and Keywana; special friends: Deacon Kerry Nelson, LaDon McNeil, Delores Roberts, Cathay (Doug) Miller, Mother Rozene Handley, Attorney Brenda Williams, Wanda Miller, Geraldine Coleman, Deidre Spight Woodson, Harold Woodson, Robert Boyler II, Pete Lee, Rose Norris-Clements, Charlotte (Ed) Brown-Taylor, Sonia Breed, Donna (Fred) Poplar, and Regina (Derrick “Fish”) Williams, Sue (JB) Turner-Wright; Clement Street neighbors, including special neighbors Wally and Lena Miller; Attorney Loyst Fletcher and Daphne Davis; former Genesee County Sheriffs Joe Wilson and Robert Pickell; Prosecutor David Leyton; County Treasurer Sam Muma; Wilbert “Poppa” and Cynthia Jarrett; Johnnie Person; and Pastors Rodney Williams, Allen C. Overton Sr., and Orlando Goodman, the St. John family, and the Floyd family. Christine was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Willie Lee and Lucille Harwell Brown; her brothers, Leon Brown and Jamaril “Choo” Brown; her paternal and maternal grandparents; her niece, Rhonda Brown; and her special friends: Dr. Lewis Randolph, Bishop Odis A. Floyd, Dr. Henry Lyons, Bennie King, Eric Mays, and other special relatives and friends.
