BROWN-GREENE, Ms. Christina – Age 46, entered her eternal rest on Sunday, August 7, 2011 at Genesys Health System with her loved ones by her side. Family hour 10 a.m. Monday, August 15, 2011 at Second Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, G-6046 Clio Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Pastor Rodney Williams officiating. Interment Crestwood Memorial Cemetery, G-2020 E. Hill Rd., Grand Blanc, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10 a.m. Monday. Ms. Brown-Greene will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday. Hello, I, Christina L. Brown-Greene, have made my transition home to be in the loving arms of the Lord. My journey on this earth started September 7, 1964 in Flint, MI. A cute freckled face baby and my parents’ only daughter, I was the pride and joy of my mother Bethelee Walker and father Alvin Brown. I’ve always loved the Lord and received Christ at an early age. Growing up in my grandparents’ church, I remained a member of Second Friendship Missionary Baptist church all my life. I especially enjoyed the gospel choirs, singing along and clapping my hands as we sung praises to God. I graduated from the original Flint Academy High School in Flint, where I enjoyed playing on the basketball team and running track. I furthered my education at Mott Community College and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in social work from the University of Michigan-Flint. In 1996 I wed Rodney Greene in California. My mom said I was a beautiful bride. I always had a heart for helping people and worked in the social work field in Michigan, California and Colorado, before moving back home and residing in Grand Blanc. People always told me I had a great sense of humor, and I loved laughing and spending time with family and close friends. Growing up I had fun baking with my cousin Jo Jo and our times spending the night with Big Mama and Grandpa. My family lovingly called me “Crissy,” and it tickled me when affectionately my Uncle Porter called me, “Peaches” and Uncle Milton called me “Stina.” I was fond of all my dear aunts and uncles. God blessed me to grow up with two loving brothers. I enjoyed a close relationship with my Dad, and my words cannot express the love I feel for my mother for all the love and support she gave to me. I leave to cherish my sweet memories: my mother Bethelee Walker; father, Alvin (Jessie) Brown and father Sam Walker; 5 brothers, Alvin (Loletta) Brown, Jr. of Victorville, California and Milton Brown of Flint, Archie Walker of Flint, Orlando (Dawn) Walker of Houston, Avery Belton of Flint; sisters, Loretta (James) Morgan of Dallas, TX, Cheryl (James) Carter of Hollywood, FL.; niece, Milante Adams of Grand Blanc; nephews, Alvin III (Melodie) Brown, Daniel (Tammie) Brown, Jacob Brown, Lawrence Brown, Darius Brown of Victorville, CA, and Anthony (Maria) Cooper of Cincinnati, OH; great-nieces, Isabel Brown, Endia Moore; great-nephews, Daniel Brown Jr., Adonis Townsend; aunts, Ann (Robert) Nelson, Nancy (William) Clark, Nellie Brown, Mary Jackson of the Flint area, Patricia Pearson in Saudi Arabia, Karen Acoff of Maple Heights, OH and Carla Brown of Cleveland, OH; uncles, Milton (Jollie) Fields, Amos (Shelby) Fields, Willie (Jimmie) Fields, Porter (Melvina) Fields, Wade (Ollie) Fields and Curtis (Myrtlene) Fields all of the Flint area, Harry (Beverly) Brown of Modesto, CA, Leo Brown of Cleveland, OH, James Brown of San Francisco, CA; a host of cousins including Arlesia Fields, Pam Litzenberg, Bobbie Thompson, Renae Horton and Shuntay Packnett; godmother, Mary White; godson, Donell Malone; many friends including Lisa, Valerie Miller, Zena, Tracie Jenkins, Henry and (Aunt) Ann Rankin. Christina was preceded in death by grandparents the Rev. Anderson Fields and Jemima Fields, Alvin Brown, Sr. and Ruth Brown and Aunt Vivian Wilson and Uncle Daryl Brown.
