WARD, Mr. Chester - Age 48, passed away Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Family hour 1:30PM Tuesday, January 12, 2010 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing immediately at 2PM, Pastor Floyd Fuller officiating. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 1:30PM Tuesday. Mr. Ward will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 12Noon-8PM Monday. Mr. Chester Lee Ward, Sr. was born August 13, 1961 in East Chicago, Indiana, the son of Modena and Luke Ward, Sr. Chester attended Flint Public Schools. He was formerly employed with the City of Flint and Al’s Clean Up Shop. Chester loved life, fishing, playing cards and his family. He leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Shirley Ward; daughter, Charlene Ward, both of Flint; father, Luke (Dorothy) Ward of Hammond, IN; 8 step-daughters, Tamara (Ray), Talia (Chip), Shante, Tiffany (Sam), Ashley, Nakia, Gabby and Sharida, all of Flint; 4 step-sons, JaMicheal of Memphis, TN, Cameron, Monray and Troy, all of Flint; 10 grandchildren; 6 sisters, Louise Walters, Catherine Dorsey, Valerie (James) Riley, Gail (Jingo) Thomas, Avanell (Mike) Jackson, Tami Alston, whom he affectionately called ‘Lady Tee”, all of Flint; 4 brothers, Larry (Delores) Ward of Columbus, GA, Luke (Lisa) Ward, Kim Ward and Gregory Alston, all of Flint; a host of nieces and nephews, including special nephew, Eddie Walters, Jr.; aunts, uncles and cousins; goddaughter, Katrina Frisbee; special companion, Betty Harris; best friend, Sam Dunn; special friends, Tamara Dixon, Al and Jessie Johnson, Gerald Wilson, Ms. Robinson and Jerome Chapman. Mr. Ward was preceded in death by his son, Chester Ward, Jr.; parents, Henry and Modena Alston; brother, Gary Harris; sister, Joann Lymon; nephews, Johnathan Lymon, Jr. and Bryant Keith Walters; niece, Jolanda Lymon; brother-in-law, Eddie Walters, Sr.; god mother, Darresa Bowie and best friend, Terry Bowie.
