Mr. Charlie L. Leverette

LEVERETTE, Mr. Charlie L. - Age 70, passed away Thursday, November 8, 2012 at his residence. Public visitations will be held on Wednesday, November 14, 2012 from 12 noon to 8 pm, in Pontiac at Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 268 N. Perry St, Pontiac, MI, 48342; and in Flint on Thursday, November 15, 2012 from 12 noon to 8pm with family present from 5pm to 8pm at Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., Flint, MI, 48505. A graveside service will be held on Friday, November 16, 2012 at 11:30am, Pastor James Beamon officiating, Interment Lovedale Memorial Cemetery, G-5175 E. Bristol Rd, Burton 48519. Family, friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Flint funeral home at 10:30am to proceed to Lovedale for the burial. Mr. Charlie L. Leverette was born June 21, 1942 in Marion, Alabama, the son of Mr. & Mrs. Otha and Hannah Leverette. As a student Charlie was highly intellectual, achieving academic excellence as well as track and field. He graduated from Northern High School Class of 1960, attending Mott Community College with aspirations of becoming a pharmacist. Charlie retired from General Motors, having worked at Buick Motor Division. He was an avid bowler and a member of several bowling leagues. He loved reading the Bible, reciting scripture, listening to music and being around people. His favorite pastimes were creating artwork and spending time with family and friends. He leaves to cherish his memory, daughter, Erica (Abdrahamane) Traoré; one grandson, Eric Ian Leverette; three sisters; Louise Thomas, Malinda Robinson and Ellean Terry, all of Flint; two brothers, Otha (Luretha, deceased) Leverette of Pensacola, FL and Joe (Lillie) Leverette of Flint; one sister-in-law, Lorine Leverette of Pensacola, FL; a host of beloved nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends, including special nephews, Gene Leverette, Eugene “Jim” King and Lee Curtis “Curt” King; and good friend, William "Poochie" Allison. Mr. Leverette was preceded in death by his infant daughter Carmilla; parents, Mr. & Mrs. Otha and Hannah Leverette; one sister, Julia (Willie) King; six brothers, Allen (Madie), Andrew “B”, Bose, J.W. (Flossie), Alexander “Foster”, and Eugene (Roberta). The family wishes to thank Pastor & Mother Beamon and their children, Morning Glory Missionary Baptist Church family, Mr. & Mrs. Ellis and family, OCCMH, Community Network Services, Pontiac Osteopathic Hospital, St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, North Oakland Doctors Hospital, Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital & Hospice, Avalon Hospice and special staff of Hurley Medical Center and GCCMH.
