JONES, Mr. Charlie D. - Age 59, departed this life on March 5, 2009 at Avalon Hospice (Flint, MI) in the care of his wife and children. Family hour 4PM Wednesday, March 11, 2009 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., Flint, MI, 48505, (810) 789-6666 with funeral service commencing immediately at 5PM, Pastor T.J. Lee officiating. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home 4PM Wednesday. Mr. Jones will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 12Noon-4PM Wednesday. The family is then having their beloved husband and father transported to his hometown of Brookhaven, MS where he will be laid to rest with his grandparents, parents and deceased siblings at the family cemetery. An additional funeral service will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday March 14, 2009 at Cool Spring Missionary Baptist Church, 3260 McCall Creek Road, McCall Creek, MS, 39647. The service will precede a family hour from 10:00AM – 11:00AM at Cool Spring Missionary Baptist Church and a reception in the church’s fellowship hall after the interment. The family is asking that flowers be sent to Cool Spring Missionary Baptist Church. Mr. Charlie D. Jones was born to Rivers and Josie Mae Jones on May 21, 1949 in Lincoln County, MS. He was a loyal and dedicated man, who believed “once a task has begun, never end it until it’s done.” Charlie proved this by faithfully working diligently over 35 years at General Motors, sustaining a strong martial relationship with his wife for nearly 40 years, nurturing four children and financially supporting two through college. He was a member of Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church in Mt. Morris, MI and a true word of faith believer. Charlie was largely known for his communicative assertiveness, which oftentimes led him into clearly speaking his mind. He was always eager to let you know exactly where he stood on any topic. A football and western movies fanatic, he enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family. He was loved by many and will be missed by all. Mr. Charlie D. Jones leaves in God’s care and many precious memories to cherish: wife, Janice Jones of 38 years; three sons, Leonard (Katonya) Jones, Anthony (Teresa) Jones, and Alonzo Price, all of Flint, MI; daughter, Charnice Jones of Ypsilanti, MI; 12 wonderful grandchildren; two brothers, Woodrow Jones of Brookhaven, Mississippi and Jimmy Dale Jones of California; three sisters, Missouri Jones of Dover, New Jersey, Josephine Jones of Minneapolis, MN, and Dora Elaine (Larry) Johnson of Bryant, AR; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends including friend, Jessie James Thomas of Flint, MI. Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Jeanette Jones and Dorothy (Wood) McPherson.
