Mr. Charles Edward Morris

MORRIS, Mr. Charles Edward - Age 83, passed away Monday, May 2, 2022 at McLaren-Select Specialty. Family hour 10:30 AM Saturday, May 14, 2022 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with a Memorial Service commencing at 11:00 AM. Friends and family will assemble at the Chapel 10:30 AM Saturday. Mr. Charles Morris was born June 18, 1938 in Longview Texas, to the union of Emerson and Minnie Pallie Morris. Charles believed in the Lord and was baptized at an early age. Charles was united in Holy Matrimony to Ruth (Ashburn) Morris in 1972. He was a dependable patriot of his family. His love for his wife, children, grandchildren and family was unconditional. Charles was a hard working man and after working 30 dedicated years Charles retired from Fisher Body Grand Blanc a division of General Motor and was a member of UAW Local #1292. Charles was known for his Texas fashion and he showcased his cowboy boots and his cowboy hats in Texas style. His hobbies included; playing dominos at the Hasselbring Senior Center, working-out at the YMCA and walking 7 miles a day at Forest Park. Charles, enjoyed watching old western movies, spending time with family, and most particularly spending time with his brother, the late George Morris. Charles was an advocate sports lover; his favorite teams were the Detroit Lions, Detroit Tigers and the Dallas Cowboys. Mr. Charles Morris leaves to cherish his memory: his devoted and loving caring wife of 50 years, Ruth Morris; daughter, Veonca Johnson; son, Reginald Simmons; grandson, Ta’Marvis Thompson; grand daughter, Morgyn Johnson; great-granddaughter, Fendi Thompson; sister in-law, Juanita Thompson; many nephews, nieces, cousins and other relatives and friends survive including 2 god-daughters,; Dorothy Jean Johnson and Charlotte Brown; special cousin, Zern Bacon; special friends, Blanche Fisher, Debora Stitt, Pat Gray, Charles Watkins, the Home Street Neighbors and the Hasselbring Senior Citizens Domino Players. Mr. Charles Morris was preceded in death by his daughter, Charlene Morris; parents, Emerson and Minnie Pallie Morris; 2 brothers, Thurman and George Morris; mother-in-law, Augusta Thompson; 5 brothers-in-law, William “Smooth Sailing” Ashburn, Harold Ashburn, James Thompson, Robert Thompson and Gerald Thompson; 4 sisters-in-law, Stein Morris, Kay Morris, Bethany Ashburn-Andrews and Moesa Thompson.
