Mr. Charles Mantiele Lott

LOTT, Mr. Charles Mantiele - Age 62, passed away Saturday, July 1, 2023 at McLaren-Flint. Family hour 10:00 AM Friday, July 7, 2023 at Jachin Baptist Church, 2715 N. Averill Ave., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Pastor Derrick Watkins, officiating. Interment Gracelawn Cemetery, 5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:00 AM Friday. Mr. Lott will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Thursday. Charles Mantiele Lott was born January 28, 1961 in Flint, MI to the union of Nelson and Brenda Lott. He graduated from Beecher High School in 1979. There he was a star football player and met the love of his life, Vennette Watkins - Lott. They joined together in holy matrimony on June 15, 1981. Through their union a rich legacy was created with a daughter and two sons, Aneisha, Brandon and Charles Jr. along with 9 grandchildren. The grace and love of God truly was reflected through Charles’ life. He was a longtime member of First Trinity Missionary Baptist Church where he was baptized at an early age by Dr. F. O. Hockenhull. He later became a founding member and Deacon at Jachin Baptist Church. Charles devoted his life to nurturing and caring for his family, which was undoubtedly his first ministry. His love was displayed by spending time watching his favorite movies with his wife, vacations with his family, most with his wife, slumber parties with his grandchildren and loved his many nephews and he especially loved his nieces. He was the epitome of a family man. Charles was a Flint streetball legend building lasting friendships past the basketball court while winning on the court at gyms, parks, and Gus Macker Tournaments all over Mid Michigan. Professionally, Charles had 29 years of management experience at Arby’s, Blimpie’s, KFC, Shoney’s and at Flint Genesee Job Corps where he held multiple roles over a near 20 year career. Charles loved all his kids. He would often refer to the youth at Job Corps saying: “those are my kids”, he filled so many parental gaps. His eyes would radiate with joy as he talked about the youth at Job Corps. He was loving, caring and extraordinarily supportive. He always knew the right words to say to provide encouragement and show love to those around him. He would always be sure to put a smile on their faces, by reminding them of how handsome, beautiful and royal they are even if they did not recognize it. Charles was a beacon of hope and love. His heart was made of pure gold. Charles was as sharp as a tack, he always looked debonair, as he liked to say, “I’m slicker than a can of oil.” His outfits were not complete without his Invicta watches. Charles was truly a gift from God. His legacy of love will continue to live on through all those who had the privilege of knowing him. Charles Mantiele Lott leaves to cherish his memory: high school sweetheart, loving wife and best friend of 45 years, Vennette; two sons, Charles Jr (Jackie) Lott of Queens, NY and Brandon (Jessica) Lott of Flint, MI; mother, Brenda Lott of Flint, MI; brother, Eric Lott of Flint , MI; sister, Kimberlie Norris of Columbus, OH; goddaughter, Jacola Smith of Biloxi, MS; nine grandchildren, Brandon Jr, Zeke, Josiah, and Jeremiah all of Flint, MI, Isaiah, Matthew, Avery, Charles III, and Atlas of all of Queens, NY; a host of nieces and nephews, 8 brothers-in-law, 7 sisters-in-law, other relatives and friends. Charles was preceded in death by daughter, Aneisha Latrice Lott; father, Deacon Emeritus Nelson Lott; and sister, Deborah Lott, father-in-law, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, Elder Zeke and Rosie Watkins and Rhonda Clark. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staffs at Henry Ford Hospital and McLaren Hospital ICU 2nd floor nurses, Ryan, Shuba, Joe and Geraldina.
