LEE, Dr. Charles R. D.O. – Age 70, passed away Saturday, June 4, 2016 at Beaumont Hospital, Troy, MI. Family hour 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at Mt. Tabor Missionary Baptist Church, 115 Welch Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Floyd Fuller officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. Dr. Lee will lie in state of the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, with the family present to receive friends from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Dr. Charles R. Lee was born March 8, 1946 in Fresno, California, the son of Abraham and Lola M. Lee. He peacefully went home to be with the Lord on June 4, 2016, surrounded by his loving wife, children and family at William Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak, Michigan. Dr. Lee accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Bethlehem No. 2 Baptist Church in Tarry, Arkansas. He attended Sunday School and Church regularly and was a member of the Usher Board and participated in other church activities. He graduated from high school in 1964. Dr. Lee served as a Medic in the United States Army during the Viet Nam Era. Upon discharge form the Army, Dr. Lee received a Bachelors’ of Science Degree in Microbiology and Doctorate in Osteopathic Medicine from Michigan State University. He successfully completed an internship from Flint Osteopathic Hospital. Dr. Lee also completed a fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation as well as training in Critical Care Medicine at Cleveland Clinic. Dr. Charles Lee was a member of several professional medical associations including the Bay County Medical Society, American Medical Association, and American Osteopathic Association. As a Physician for the past 30 years Dr. Lee has served as Chief of Anesthesiology and Director of Respiratory Therapy. In addition to his wide range of experience in hospital care he maintained a private practice. He provided general medical care and pain management. Dr. Lee was a dedicated and compassionate physician who treated his patients with dignity and integrity. He has been married to Dr. Carolyn Brady Lee for more than 35 years. From that union two children were born, Marcus Lee and Kristie V. Lee. Dr. Lee was a loving and caring individual who enjoyed life. His hobbies included fishing, hunting and other outdoor activities. Dr. Charles R. Lee leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Carolyn Lee of Southfield, MI; children, Marcella (Brian) Flournoy of Toledo, OH, Kristie V. Lee of Southfield, MI, Keith (Tokquechel) Lee of Tampa, FL, Brian Lee of Oakland Park, FL, and Dr. Justin Echols of Georgia; granddaughter, Mekeha T. Lee of Dallas, TX; 2 sisters, Maso (John) Demps of Grand Blanc, MI, and Dr. Betty J. Wilborn-Lee of Jacksonville, NC; brother, Anderson Topps of Flint; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Dr. Lee was preceded in death by his parents, Abraham and Lola M. Lee. The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. J. Mogaka and William Beaumont Hospital, Rev. Dr. Henry L. Fuller, Jr. and Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church family, Pastor Floyd Fuller and the Mt. Tabor Missionary Baptist Church family.
