Mr. Charles Edward Gill Sr.

GILL, Mr. Charles E., Sr., - Age 88, passed away Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at McLaren-Flint. Family hour 10:00 AM Thursday, August 19, 2021 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Entombment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy., Mt. Morris, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Funeral Home 10:00 AM Thursday. Mr. Gill will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home. Public Viewing will be held during the family hour only. Mr. Gill was Honorably Discharged from the United States Army. Mr. Charles E. Gill Sr. was born June 2, 1933 in Okolona, Arkansas, the son of Elisha and Zela Gill. Charles as a resident of Flint, Michigan. He graduated high school and was employed by General Motors Corporation where he retired. Charles was a self-employed Roofing Contractor. He loved bowling and was a league bowler. Charles was a member of First Trinity Missionary Baptist Church for over 50 years where he worked Security and served on the Usher Board. He served in the United States Army. Charles also was a member of Oman Temple #72. It was said that he never met a stranger because he was always full of joy and laughter. Mr. Charles E. Gill Sr. leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Ruby Lois Gill; daughter, Latonya (Anthony) Flourney; son, Charles (Alicia) Gill Jr.; grandchildren, Sharica Gill, Lonnie Gill, Tanisha Gill, Shamica Gill, Christopher Gill, Dacari Gill, Kayleah Gill, Corvell Redd, Lon’niyiah Gill, all of Flint, Ebony Lucas of Detroit, MI, Genesis Hollie, Antuan Taylor and Delrico Shine, all of Flint; great-grandchildren, Antuan Taylor Jr., Mya McKnuckle, Tristan Redd, Aubree Thorton, Taitum Redd, London Redd, Laila Polite, Jewels Redd, Raina Shine and Robert Shine; 3 sisters, Juanita Thomas, Bertha Woods and Elia Sorrells, all of Okolona, AR; a host of other relatives and friends including special daughters, Erica Hill, Keona Whitson and Rachel Johnson of First Trinity Missionary Baptist Church. Mr. Gill was preceded in death by his parents, Elisha and Zela Gill; 4 brothers, Shepherd Anderson, Sammy Gill, Billy Gill and Elisha Gill Jr. The family would like to express special thanks to McLaren-Flint, Deacon Bill Quarles, Sister Rachel Johnson and First Trinity Missionary Baptist Church family.
