COLLINS, Mr. Charles Henry "Poppy" Jr. - Age 71, transitioned to his heavenly home for his eternal reward at the Veterans Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan on Wednesday, April 8, 2020. Mr. Collins will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed Monday, April 20, 2020 from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery, G-4200 Belford Rd., Holly, MI. Unconditional love, kindness, family, faith-filled and unique are all the words that best describe Mr. Charles H. (Poppy) Collins Jr.. A loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend of many. Charles (Poppy) Collins Jr. was born on March 16, 1949 in Mobile, Alabama to his parents, the late Charles H. Collins Sr. and Princess Collins. Mr. Charles (Poppy) Collins Jr. was saved and accepted Christ as his personal savior and attended the Living Body of Christ Ministries where he served as a deacon. Charles (Poppy) Collins Jr. attended and graduated from Flint Southwestern High School and served in the United States Army. Mr. Charles (Poppy) Collins Jr. enjoyed spending as much time as he could with his family, especially his sister Sharon and granddaughter Lalah, going to the movies, attending church services, eating tacos at his daughter's house and just going on long walks enjoying nature. Mr. Charles (Poppy) Collins Jr. knew how to make everyone he encountered laugh and smile. Charles H. (Poppy) Collins Jr. leaves to cherish his precious memory and unconditional love, son: Darnell ( Ever) Miller of Ypsilanti, Mi: daughter; Felicia ( John) Chandler of Flint, Mi: granddaughter; Lalah Mahlon Chandler of Flint, Mi; Grandsons: Darnell K. Miller of Cincinnati, Oh.; Landon Miller of Indianapolis, In.; Myles Miller of Ypsilanti, Mi.; Life long friend and mother of his son, Marion Hopkins of Flint, Mi. He also leaves to cherish his memories, 4 sisters: Loyal, devoted and caregiver: Sharon( Leon) Riley of Flint, Mi., Keana (Davawn) Barber of Flint, Mi., Linda Bailey and Brenda Bailey of Mobile, Alabama. 5 brothers: Brent Collins and Wilford Moore of Atlanta, Ga., Le Bailey Sr. of Mexico, Sherrod Moore and Kilo (Shameicka) Thompson of Flint, Mi.: 1 aunt: Shirley Crenshaw and 1 uncle Willie Earl Collins both of Mobile, Alabama. Special nieces and nephews; Shawnda Troy (Sam) Gipson of Dallas, Tx; Sonja Tesa ( T.J.) Jackman, Nakiia ( Nicki) Pringle-Smith, Sharon Manager all of Atlanta, Ga.; Pastor Le (Tonya) Bailey Jr., Giovanni Richey and many more nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews along with cousins who affectionately called him, “ Uncle Poppy''. Mr. Charles H. (Poppy) Collins Jr. was preceded in death by his parents; Charles H. Collins Sr. and Princess Collins, brother Gerald Collins, his grandparents; Norrine Collins, Fred Collins, Olegra “Doll” Green, James Green and the mother of his daughter: Georgia ( Red) Anderson. We are most grateful for the love and support of family and friends, who have been so kind and thoughtful during these hours of sorrow.
