Charles Chatmon

CHATMON, Mr. Charles - Age 61, passed away Friday, June 6, 2008 at his residence. Family hour 10:30AM Monday, June 16, 2008 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing immediately at 11AM, Rev. Jessie Wilson officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:30AM Monday. Mr. Chatmon will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 10AM-6PM Sunday. Mr. Charles Lomax Chatmon, Sr. was born February 18, 1947 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Jerry and Sharline Chatmon. He attended the Flint public schools. Charles worked at Chevrolet Truck and Bus a division of General Motors for 27 ½ years. He enjoyed fishing, visiting his buddies and helping anybody. Charles was well loved by everyone and his famous words were “Step Into My Office” while pulling up his pants. Mr. Charles Lomax Chatmon leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Mamie Brown-Chatmon; 3 daughters, DaWanda Lewis, Sirmone Brown and Ilhet Brown-Pitt; 2 sons, Charles L. Chatmon, Jr. and Aaron Brown; 7 grandchildren, Charelle Chatmon, Charles Chatmon, III, Samuel Atkinson, Brianca Atkinson, Makylela Chapman-Brown, Gwen M. Jones and Asia Chapman; 3 great-grandchildren; 7 sisters, Geraldine, Joyce, Jessie Mae Chatmon, Charlene (John) Corder, Deborah (John) Harris, Zernie Bacon and Zeffrey (Monroe) Adams; 2 brothers, Robert Chatmon and John (Yolanda) Chatmon; 16 nieces, 15 nephews, many cousins; mother-in-law, Mattie Lee Johnson-Brown; 6 sisters-in-law, Kimberly Kay Brown, Annie Brown, Cynthia (Dewayne) Rosemond, Delta Lee (Michael) Fowler all of Pittsburgh, PA, Olivia (Clarence) Chaney from Flint and MS; 3 brothers-in-law, Donald, Ronald and Eddie Brown all of Pittsburgh, PA; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends; Joe Jones, Dewayne Rosemond, Peggie Pope, Willie Taylor, Eugene Watson and Mr. Willie Johnson. Mr. Charles Lomex Chatmon was preceded in death by son, Daymond Brown; parents, Jerry and Sharline Chatmon; grandmother, Hattie Cornel; 3 sisters, Pauline Charleston, Eunice and Marva Chatmon; sister-in-law, Esther Chatmon.
