ADKINS, Mr. Charles Ray - Age 57, On April 11, 2008, our Lord and Savior saw fit to call him from labor to reward. Family hour 10AM Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at Christ Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church, 317 E. Hamilton Ave., with funeral service commencing at 11AM, Dr. Leroy Shelton officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10AM Wednesday. Mr. Adkins will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12Noon-8PM Tuesday. Mr. Charles Ray Adkins was born on December 6, 1950 in Eldorado, Arkansas to John Adkins and Frankie Cowser. He was the younger of two boys. Charles grew up in Flint, MI and was a graduate of Flint Beecher High School graduating in 1969. Charles formerly worked for Devaney's Plumbing and Heating where he earned his Journeyman's license. He later worked for General Motors Corporation as a skilled tradesman - metal model maker, retiring after 30 years of service in 2007. Charles was a former member of Christ Fellowship M.B.C. and later united with Family Worship Center. Charles was united in holy matrimony to his high school sweetheart, Cheryl Cabine, in December 1995. They enjoyed many years of love, laughter and traveling until he was called from this life. He was a kind and compassionate man respected by all who came in contact with him. Charles was passionate about his family especially enjoying his children and grandchildren. He had a zest for life and some of his greatest pastimes were his cars, fishing, golfing and bowling. He leaves in God's care, the love of his life, his loving and devoted wife, Cheryl Adkins, children and their families, Tanisha (Kevelin Jr.) Jones, Damon (Amy) Redmond, Charisse (Benjamin) Allen, Lonnie Krigger, all of Flint, MI and Princess Coleman of Birmingham, AL. Grandchildren Lorenzo Redmond, Kiara Coolin, Alicea and Kevelin Jones III. Special nieces Charmayne Cabine, Courtney Cabine and Dajene' McNair. Father John Adkins, brother Darvin Miles, uncles Wymon Cowser, Sidney Dale Cowser and Ennis Cowser. Sister-in-laws Sandra (Richard) Cabine-Heller, Charlotte Davis and Nancy Rozier. Special friends Keith McFadden, Dean Garland, Roger Norton, Larry Campbell, Willie Miller, Willie Brown, Waynard Shreve, Percy Polite, Byron Tapo, Roy Valentine, Brannon, Garland and Legardye families, Grandma Mosby and Granddaddy Mosby, bowling and golf buddies and the Hot Rod Association. Special thanks to Bountiful Love Ministries, Mt. Calvary M.B.C. Christ Fellowship M.B.C. and Family Worship Center church families, and staff at Holmes Gender Based Academy. Charles was preceded in death by his grandparents, mother - Frankie Adkins, grandson - Infant Benjamin Allen II, in-laws Doda Cabine and Walter Cabine.
