Mrs. Charlene Houston

HOUSTON, Mrs. Charlene- Age 59, passed away Saturday, October 20, 2012 at her residence. Family hour: 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 26, 2012 at Harris Memorial COGIC, 4317 Lippincott Blvd. Burton, MI with funeral service commencing at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Eric C. Bogan officiating. Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Church 10:00 a.m. Friday. Mrs. Houston will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12 Noon – 8:00 p.m. Thursday. Mrs. Charlene Houston was born July 22, 1953 in Buffalo, New York, the daughter of L.C. and Birddean Roberson. She was a resident of Flint, Michigan since 1959. Charlene was a member of Mt. Hebron Baptist Church where she served faithfully in the choir, the Board of Directors and drove the church van. She graduated from Beecher High School “Class of 1972.” Charlene retired from Chevrolet V-8 Engine Plant, a division of General Motors. She loved to cook her specialty which was Macaroni and Cheese. Charlene’s hobbies included fishing and Bingo. Everyone knew she loved her son, DuJuan, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her heart. Charlene was “REAL” and you always knew where she stood! She was better known to her friends as “Lil Bit.” Mrs. Charlene Houston leaves to cherish her memory: son, DuJuan (Tracy) Houston of Flint; grandchildren, Michelle Prado of Lansing, MI, Ty’Eisha Houston, Ashantai Melton, both of Flint; Chantale George of Elizabethtown, KY, Rameer Houston, Oaisha Louis, Karand Houston, all of Flint and Troy George of Elizabethtown, KY; great-grandchildren, A’Layah Houston, Lauryn Houston-Bond, Chutavion Stanley, all of Flint and La’Nyriyah Deloney of Elizabethtown, KY; mother, Birddean Garner; 2 sisters, Wilma Shine and Maxine (Flordie B.) Ellison; brother, Louis (Celeste) Roberson, all of Flint; nieces, Sabrina (Richard) Williams, Teneka Ellison, Twila Ellison, Janine Ellison, Ashley Roberson and Courtney Roberson; nephews, Orlandis Ellison and Christopher Houston, all of Flint; 2 aunts, Katie Jean Taylor of Flint and Bertha Lee Cooper of Ripley, TN; uncle, John Henry (Lorine) Taylor of Dyersburg, TN; a host of great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins; mother and father-in-law, Rosa and Warner Houston of Flint; 6 sisters-in-law, Carolyn (Sandy) Malloy of Flint, Edna Brantley, Linda Melton, Barbara Houston, Shirley Petty, all of Cleveland, OH and Marie Glover of Lincoln, AL; a host of other relative and friends including special friends, Polly Outland, Mary Utsey, Tweet, Elaina Brown, Ruth Dickey, Ondrea Jackson, Willie Lloyd and Dolline Wright. Mrs. Houston was preceded in death by her father, L.C. Roberson; and her grandparents, John and Isabella Taylor.
