McCRAY, Mrs. Catherine - Age 71, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 5, 2007. Family hour 11AM Thursday, January 11, 2007 at Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church, 106 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 12Noon. Dr. W.A. Cox officiating. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, G-5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11AM Thursday. Mrs. McCray will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 1PM-8PM Wednesday. Mrs. Catherine McCray was born November 13, 1929 in Altheimer, Arkansas, the daughter of Calvin Miner and Georgia Patrick. She married Major Webb-McCray and into this union 3 children were born. Catherine later moved to Flint, Michigan in 1959. She confessed Christ at an early age. Catherine was a member of Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, and later joined Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church. She served on the Missionary Board. Catherine obtained her GED in the Flint School system and went on to work for Flint Osteopathic Hospital where she retired in 1993. Her hobbies were fishing, crocheting, word find puzzles and enjoying time with her family and friends. Mrs. Catherine McCray leaves to cherish her memory: daughter, Gloria Jackson of Flint; son, David (Barbara) Scott of Mt. Morris, MI; 10 grandchildren, Timothy (Susan) Jackson of IL, Tahira-Chandra (Maurice) Yanish of Detroit, Vincent (Felita) Reese, Shalonda Webb both of AZ, Shante? Cannon of IL, Echodya Leatherman of Kalamazoo and Yakima, Davidian, RaShunda and David Scott, Jr., all of Flint; 19 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ocie McCall and Barbara Ann Robinson both of IL; several nieces and nephews; 4 cousins; and sister-in-law, Vera Nickerson; a host of great grandchildren, cousins, relatives and friends including special friends, Shirley Burnes, Dorothy Stewart, Gladys Hill. Mrs. Catherine McCray preceded in death by parents, Calvin Miner and Georgia Stewart; sons, Robert Webb, Marshall Webb and Willie Webb; brothers, Roosevelt Nickerson and J.C. Robinson. The family would like to express special thanks to caregiver, Sherry Holtzkemper, Valley Area Agency on Aging, Dr. W.A. Cox, and the Evergreen Missionary Church family, Living Word Ministry, Evangelistic Missionary Baptist Church and El-Bethel Church.
