O'NEAL "Key", Mrs. Catherine "Cookie" Elizabeth - Age 67, passed away Sunday, May 3, 2015 at Rock Island Nursing and Rehabilitation Center - Rock Island, IL. Family hour 10 a.m. Saturday, May 9, 2015 at First Union Baptist Church, 7004 Fleming Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Rev. Archie Powell Jr. Host Pastor. Pastor Jimmy Jones Officiating. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, G-5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10 a.m. Saturday. Mrs. O'Neal will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 2 p.m. - 8 p.m. Friday. Ms. Catherine E. “Key” O’Neal was born November 21, 1947 in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Lawson and Annie Marie Key. Catherine “Cookie” had accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church for most of her life. She was also a member of Due Season Ministries, and Successville Empowerment Center. Her hobbies was playing bingo, dominoes, and scramble, pool, and trivia puzzles. Catherine was many things to those who knew her. She served as a Sunday school teacher, choir director, speech therapist, guidance counselor, and a loving mother who believed in anyone’s dream. Catherine was always encouraging and would always say, “Whatever you do, be good at it”. Ms. Catherine E. “Key” O’Neal leaves to cherish her memory; daughter, Tina Mack of Saginaw, MI; son, Leslie (Charlyne) Key of Flint; 7 grandchildren, Montrell Hunt, Alex Lewis Jr., Keyara Key., Dominique Key, Samuel Mack, Christina Mack, and Tena Mack; great grandson, Jerrod Brown Jr.; 9 sisters, Vera Styles, Lenoir (Willie) Owens, Charlotte Jones, Bertha Shumpert, Pamela Lockhart, Camellia Key, Barbara Key, Pearlie Jones, and Margaret Taylor; 7 brothers, Clarence (Romel) Key, Glenn (Betty) Key, Ronnie Key, Arthur Key, James Key, Willie (Earnestine) Key, and James Lee Key; a host of numerous nieces and nephews; uncle, Ernest Key; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Pamela (Jessie) Bryant, Darlene Leon, Sandra White, Geraldine Remond, Jeanette Chin-Kee-Fatt, Carolyne Baylor, Charles Harvelle, and Sue Pugh. Ms. Catherine E. “Key” O’Neal was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie O’Neal, parents, Lawson and Annie Marie Key.
