Mrs. Carrie Bell Hall

HALL, Mrs. Carrie Bell - 82, passed away Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at McLaren-Flint. Family hour 11:30 a.m. Friday, October 2, 2015 at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 2109 M.L. King Ave., with funeral service commencing at 12 p.m. Pastor Rodney Ellison, Host Pastor, Pastor Daniel Griffin, Officiating. Interment Lovedale Community Cemetery, G-5175 E. Bristol Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11:30 a.m. Friday. Mrs. Hall will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12 p.m. - 8 p.m., with the family present from 12 p.m. - 3 p.m. Thursday. Mrs. Carrie Bell Hall was born October 3, 1932 in LaGrange, Georgia, the daughter of Bennie Sr. and Annie Bell Ellison. Carrie grew up and attended school in LaGrange, GA where she met her husband, Bennie Hall. She felt a connection between Bennie and herself, they were married on May 22, 1949. Carrie loved being a wife, homemaker and mother. We should know because she had 10 children. Mother wore many hats; she was a doctor, counselor, referee and a very good cook. It amazed us at how she could take something that we didn’t like and turn it into something good and positive. Carrie was always there for family and somehow seemed to find a way to help those in need. She was truly loved by everyone. Carrie consistently put her faith in God and was always affiliated with the church. In her latter years, Carrie attend and became an active member of El-Bethel Evangelistic Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor Danyiel Griffin. She served on the Mother’s Board and Nurse’s Guild. Her hobbies include the following: socializing with family and friends, card games, bingo, dancing, fishing, gardening and quilting. Mrs. Carrie Bell Hall leaves to cherish her memory: husband, Bennie Hall; 5 daughters, Carrie Ruth (Albert) Ross, Doris Hall, Joyce Hall, Bernice Hall and Rachel (Richard) Smith; 4 sons, Benjamin Hall, Jeffrey (Linda) Hall, Y.C. (Donna) Hall and Dwight Hall, all of Flint; 23 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Annie Frost of Atlanta, GA, Daisy Horton and Elaine Shelton, both of Flint; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and long-time friends. Mrs. Hall was preceded in death by her son, James Hall; parents, Bennie Sr. and Annie Bell Ellison; sisters, Willie Pearl Shamlin and Mary Frances Robertson; brothers, Bennie Ellison, Jr. and John Frank Ellison. The family would like to express special thanks to all the doctors, nurses and staff of McLaren-Flint for the care of our mother. We also want to extend our appreciation to friends for your cards, calls and prayers.
