Mrs. Carrie Lee Allen

ALLEN, Mrs. Carrie Lee - Age 81, passed away Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at her residence. Family hour 1:30 PM Friday, August 11, 2023 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 2:00 pm. Rev. Anthony Floyd, officiating. Family and friends will assemble at the chapel 1:30 PM Friday. Mrs. Allen will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Thursday. Mrs. Carrie Lee Allen was born March 25, 1942 in LaGrange, Georgia, the daughter of Lucinda Moss. She was the last standing of her six siblings. In the 1950’s, her mother moved them all to Warren, Ohio. From there, she met her late husband, Albert Allen where she created a lifetime of memories. Carrie then moved to Flint, Michigan in the late 60’s. She was a hard working, strong willed and strong minded woman that lived her life to the fullest. Carrie enjoyed working with children, holidays when her family came together, spending time with her grandchildren where she would volunteer and participate in outdoor outings and sports with them. She also enjoyed the years that she was able to have all of her children together. Carrie was a retiree of General Motors Corporation. After retirement, she volunteered at Dukette Catholic School for over 10 years. Carrie also worked in the Flint Community Schools for 10 plus years. She worked at Cathedral of Faith for the past 8 years until God called her home. The children loved them some Ms. Allen. And so did her coworkers. She was a pillar in the educational system. In 2018, Carried graduated with her Associate Degree in Early Childhood. This was a huge accomplishment for her and made her proud to know it was never too late to continue your education. Not only was Carrie a part of the International Masons and Order of Eastern Star Organization, but she also lead the youth department for Flint Division of the Masons and OES. She was a member of New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church for over 50 years. Carrie gave her services in many ways in and throughout Genesee County. She volunteered at many places including the Crim Festival of Races, Mile Water Station for 20 years, The Salvation Army Christmas Give Away for over 10 years, the Soup Kitchen and more. She touched many lives in the community. Mrs. Carrie Lee Allen leaves to cherish her memory: 5 children, Lamont (Ora) Allen of Detroit, MI, Charmel Allen-Robinson of Flint, Pamela (Anthony) Sparkling of Indiana, Porsha and Carrie Allen, both of Flint; 9 grandchildren, Kimberly Lorick of Grand Blanc, MI, Brooklyn Sparkling of Seattle, WA, Treasure Sparkling of Indiana, Robert Allen Jr. of Flint, Ayannah Allen-Weathersby, Kevin Morris III, Peyton Allen, Messiah and Kentrell Moore; in-laws, Sheila Butler and Kimiko Allen, both of Warren, OH, Carl and Joann Harris and Paul (Ozee) Harris, all of Flint; god-children, Greg Spillers, Debra (Sasheen) Woods, Efayte Wyatt, Tia Lewis, Shawn Taylor, Brandie Lowe, Erica and Shakira Perry; a host of nieces and nephews including, Yvette Moss of Warren, OH, Carmella (Edward) Hartwell of Jackson, TN, Crystal (Johnny Ray) Fleming, Linda (Terry) Edwards, Jonavise Moss, Mandy Harris, all of Flint; also including all the Allen, Moss, Harris, Edwards, Patrick, Dudley and Flanagan families; a host of cousins including, Angie Brown of Massachusetts, Gloria Camry, Traci Dowell, Pamela Dowell, Sofronia Youngblood, Danielle Dowell, Kenza Dowell and more of LaGrange, GA; special friends, Dorothy Sanders, Lillian Perry, Sandra Lewis, Wilma Shine, Maxine Williams, Andrea Hollins, Alam Barnett, Gloria Cook, and Juanita Watson. Mrs. Allen was preceded in death by her mother, Lucinda Moss; father, Robert Lee Moss; son, Robert Allen Sr.; daughter, Anastasia “Bunchy” Allen; husband, Albert Allen; son-in-law, Philip Robinson Sr.; sister, Brenda Faye Moss and Elizabeth Ann Harris; brother-in-law, Clinton Harris; brothers, Leon Moss, Fred Moss and Authur Lee Moss; nephews, Garcell “Shank” Moss, Billy Dudley, Mario Harris and Tyler Edwards. The family would like to express special thanks to Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, The Hospice Care Team, His Presence Global Ministries, Rev. Tony Floyd, Cathedral of Faith School, Mrs. Richardson and the Agape Church family, Annie Saffold, Juanita Watson, Johnathan Phinisee, Kevin Wilson, the Owens, Perry, Harris, Edwards and Sanders families.
