WATERS, Ms. Carol M. - Age 73, passed away Saturday, December 6, 2014 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 12, 2014 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with fuenral service commencing at 11 a.m. Interment Sunset Hills Association, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:30 a.m. Friday. Ms. Waters will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 2-8 p.m. Thursday. Ms. Carol Maxine Waters was born August 6, 1941 in Asheville, North Carolina. She was the first born of nine children to James and Ineatha Waters of Spartanburg, South Carolina. Carol was a graduate of Allen High School, “Class of 1959”. While attended Allen High School, she was a member of the Allen Women’s Basketball team. She also enjoyed all studies dealing with math. Carol’s grandmother, Mattie Owen Reaves encouraged Carol to pursue her education. Carol moved to Detroit, Michigan to attend Wayne State College. In 1964, Carol moved to Flint, where she attended Flint Junior College (now known as Mott Community College). Carol was the mother of two children, Sonya Danielle Waters and Ineatha Solise Waters. She was a dedicated mother whom loved both her girls unconditionally and whom introduced both of them to the Lord at an early age. Carol was a Jehovah Witness and loved to witness to others about the goodness of Jehovah. Through witnessing she met many close friends, such as; Carol Robinson, Mary Harren, the late Joan Warren and Kenneth Warren, Lossie Mae Woodley, Anita Campbell, Dorothy Hitts-Robinson and the late Mildred Aldridge were other dear friends that Carol met while working at Jefferson Elementary School as a lunch room attendant, school secretary and teachers aide. In 1976, Carol became the Magnet Program Technician for the Flint Board of Education. Carol loved mentoring young students and assisting their parents in making correct decisions when enrolling in the Magnet programs. She was an advocate of education for all children. Carol retired from the Flint Board of Education in 2001. She leaves to cherish her memory: children, Sonya Danielle Waters and Ineatha Solise Waters, both of Flint; grandchildren, Jarel D. Waters of Bronx, NY, Janeatha T. Waters and Jalise D. Waters, both of Flint; great-grandchildren, JaVeaeh Marie Waters Jones, Harmony Maxine Waters-Lymon and Carlos Amard Jones, all of Flint; sisters, Anita Irby (William), Diane Waters, Vickie Waters, all of North Carolina; brothers, Rayford Waters, Wilton (Portia) Waters, Ira Waters, all of Asheville, NC and Master Sargent Selma (Helen) Waters of Illinois; aunt, Milwee Perry; host of nieces, nephew, and cousins. Ms. Waters was joined in heaven by: beloved grandson, Jallon Waters; beloved parents, James and Ineatha Waters; beloved grandmother, Mattie Owen Reaves; and youngest brother, Theodore Robert Gerald Waters.
