LONG, Mrs. Carol Ann - Age 69, passed away Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit, MI. Family hour 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 14, 2015 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 2 p.m. Rev. Elmira S. Vincent officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. Mrs. Long will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 12 p.m. - 8 p.m. Tuesday with the family present from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. Ms. Carol Ann Long was born on August 17, 1946 in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Arthur Watson and Myrtle Price Sanders. She graduated from Flint Northern High School and continued her education receiving a Associates Degree in Business from Northwood University and a Bachelor Degree of Arts from Spring Arbor University. Carol retired from the United States Postal Service after 39 years of service. She was a member of a member of Mission of Peace Church for 43 years and worked for Mission of Peace National Corporation as Financial Counselor for 14 years. Carol loved the Lord and her family (Rubin). She also loved helping and working with people, traveling, candy and sweets; Lemon Heads and Jawbreakers were her favorites. She also loved doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles, bowling, crocheting, sewing and Suduko puzzles. Ms. Carol Ann Long leaves to cherish her memory: daughter, L’Tanya Denise Green; son, Douglas Jason (Cicely) Long; 7 grandchildren, Nakquia Long, Duisha Long, all of Flint, VonShay Green and JaVon Green, both of Huntsville, AL, Douglas James Long and Jaleesa Long, both of Lansing, MI, and Ashley August of Atlanta, GA; 2 great-grandchildren, Clarence Ford, Jr., Da’Various Ford and Nyla Bridges; sister, Myrtle Lee of Atlanta, GA; 2 step-brothers, Dennis Wright and Larry (Virginia) Heller; 2 nieces, Rochelle Lee Reeder of Atlanta, GA and Deborah Lee of Lanham, MD; nephew, David (Wanda) Lee of Atlanta, GA; aunt, Clara B. (Robert) Hendricks of Chicago, IL; cousins, Johnetta Green, Elaine (Roderick) Donaldson, Beverly (Michael) Montgomery, Reginald (Ollie) Young, Simon Robinson, Jerome Robinson, Ronald Green, Arthur Green, William Sanders, Samuel Culbert, James Culbert, Jr., and Austin Culbert; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Pastor & Reverend Alonzo and Elmira Smith Vincent, the Mission of Peace family, Rev. Garfield Hardy, Alice (Dave) Staab, Dorothy Gooley, Dave Gardner, Letecia Slappy, Tomika Slappy, Zetter Slappy, Terri Brown and Martha Dunn. Ms. Long was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Watson (Ruth) Sanders and Myrtle Price Sanders; grandparents, Colonel Young Bey and Maime EL-Bey.
