Mr. Carlon Hughey

HUGHEY, Mr. Carlon - Age 90, passed away Monday, May 23, 2016 at his residence. Family hour 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 28, 2016 at Kingdom of Heaven Ministries, 2430 Dutcher Rd. with funeral service commencing at 12:00 p.m. Apostle Lonnie Brown officiating. Interment Lovedale Memorial Cemetery G-5175 E. Bristol Rd., Burton, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 11:00 a.m. Saturday. Mr. Hughey will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Friday. Minister Carlon Hughey, Sr., a World War II Veteran, was born on March 22, 1926, to Odis Lee and Rillia (Morgan) Hughey. Daddy, as many called him, was a very loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather, who never met a stranger. He truly loved the Lord with all his heart and soul and was sure to take time to let others know how much he loved Jesus Christ! One of his many sayings was, “If I had just two people who believed in Jesus Christ, touching and agreeing, we could turn Flint, Michigan and this whole world upside down…do you believe that?” Mr. Hughey worked for Fisher Body I, a division of General Motors for 36 1/2 years before retiring. Daddy was known to everyone in the Dewey School Community as Rev! He was truly a dedicated believer in the faith; he did not lose his life he gave it up for a better one. Our Father was a real example of God’s Character. Our Lord and Savior filled Daddy with a tremendous amount of compassion for others, when God created him He broke the mold. Dad was and always will be remembered for being a man of integrity and supernatural wisdom like that of a pen of a ready writer; not only was he an awesome father, he was a fantastic grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who will truly be missed. He never stopped encouraging and praying for his family and friends. He leaves behind a legacy that is worth more than gold. Minister Carlon Hughey, Sr. leaves to cherish his memory his most cherished possession, his children, and grandchildren. Sons and daughters, Carlon Hughey, Jr, Carol Hughey, Regina (Madison) Wortham, Wendell V. (Ruth) Arther, LaVerne Arther, Jacqueline Arther (Charles) Brown; daughter-in-law, Nedra Hughey; sons-in-God, Kenneth Burns, Donald Ramsey Coleman and Howard Ware; grandchildren, Sonji (Bertram) Brown, Donielle McReynolds, Kifaru "Keif" Arther, Tomika (Christopher II) Allen, Kiata Tolbert, Carlon Hughey III, Tia McReynolds, LaToi (Brandon) Journey, Shatala Coleman, Nina Coleman, Torrance Hughey, Lacey (Jerome) Benjamin, Janai Wortham (his live in care provider), Donald Coleman, Torrie and Torrea Wortham, (his running buddies), Madison Wortham II, Clarissa Arther; 18 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Lindsey Charles, and James Nelson Hughey; brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Don (Geraldine) Coleman; and the Dewey/Stewart St. Community neighborhood friends. Minister Hughey was preceded in death by his loving wife, Geraldine (Coleman) Hughey; sons, Tyrone Hughey, Issac Arther and Reginald Arther; grandson, Brian Keith Ferguson; parents, Odis Lee and Rillia (Morgan) Hughey; 3 brothers and wives, Houston (Helen) Hughey, Lee Odis Hughey and Willie James Hughey; 2 sisters, Thelmarine Hughey and Dorothy Jean (Hughey) Malone; brothers and sisters-in-laws, Marshall (Blanche) Burns and Jessie (Mattie) Stoudamire, including special sister-in-law and friend, Lou Ellen Hughey. Our father left this life and transitioned to Heaven and he will be greatly missed! However, we do not sorrow like those without hope, because our hope is in Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior and we know that we will see him again. The family would like to thank everyone especially our sister, Carol Lynne Hughey and granddaughter, JaNai Wortham who provided exceptional care during our Dad’s final hours; thank you both for a job well done! Thank you to his son-in-law, Madison Wortham, who was accused of taking everything until he would help daddy find it, (sorry Tiny but you know Daddy Loved you very much). Also a special thank you to our Pastor and First Lady, Dr. Lonnie and Frances Brown, our Mother Jessie Wortham, Sister Linda Wortham, Sister Darnice Walters, Yohanes Wortham, our friends and family who traveled from far and near, our Kingdom of Heaven Family and our sweet sister Mary Cobb for all the visits and time spent lifting our family up in prayer. Remember what daddy told you Mary, “God is going to have compassion on you God is going to have compassion on that women!” We love all of you for all your kindness, the Hughey Family!
