Mrs. Carla Elbert

ELBERT, Mrs. Carla - Age 69, passed away Monday, June 7, 2021 at Mclaren-Flint. Family hour 1:30PM Wednesday June 16, 2021 at Divine Revelation Church, 6815 Verdun Street, with funeral service commencing at 2:00PM Overseer LeQuin R. Williams, Sr. officiating. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at funeral home at 1:30 PM Wednesday. Mrs. Elbert will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed From 12:00 PM-6:00 PM Tuesday. Mrs. Carla Sue Elbert transitioned from this earthly life on June 7, 2021 at McLaren-Flint in Flint, Michigan to her heavenly eternal home. Carla was born September 17, 1951 in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, the daughter of Leo Sr. and Maryann Brownlee. She graduated from Peake High School, “Class of 1969.” Carla was employed by Seven Eleven and later retired from Super Cash Payday Advance with 30years. She was a devoted member of Divine Revelations Church until the church closed due to the pandemic. Carla enjoyed playing cards, Pokeno, watching sports especially her favorite teams, Dallas Cowboys and Michigan State. She was a die-hard fan of both teams. Carla also enjoyed going to her favorite store, Walmart and spending time with her children, grandchildren and friends. Mrs. Carla Sue Elbert is survived by: husband, Carlos Elbert; 2 daughters, Corlius Brownlee and Latris Brownlee, all of Flint; 2 sons, Eric (Jean) Brownlee of Arlington, TX and Christopher Brownlee of Flint; step-daughter, Gyva Flood; grandchildren, Eric, Erica, Edrese, JaQuez, Charis, Cashay, Cahlil, Destani, Monyai, Tatyonna, Camri, Shaniyah, Chloe, Kendal, Christopher Jr., Traveonte, I’Nyajah, Isadore Jr. and Isaiah; a host of great-grandchildren; mother, Maryann Brownlee; 3 sisters, Flora Stephens, Latasco Gray and Patricia Scott; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins including special cousin, Virginia Johnson; 3 sisters-in-law, Sandra Shields, Denise (Oscar) Knuckles and Valorie-Elbert (Earnest) Davis; special god-daughters, Lashawn Wright and Shuronda Duncan; god-sons, Erick Blanton and Donald Morris; special nieces, Michele Pano and Sentra Brownlee; special nephews, Ron Wiley and Michael Brownlee; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Ozzie Boone, Sandra Thomas, Vanessa Morris, Monica Murray. Mrs. Elbert was preceded in death by her father, Leo Brownlee Sr.; grandmother, Lottie “Big Momma” Jenkins; sister, Victoria (Walter) Ross; brothers, Harold, Leo and Michael Brownlee; sister-in-law, Bonnie Elbert; and friend, Patsy Murray.
