Mr. Carl Fuqua Sr.

FUQUA, Mr. Carl - Age 66, passed away Thursday, May 13, 2021 at Hurley Medical Center. Mr. Fuqua will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM- 6:00 PM Wednesday, May 19, 2021. Mr. Carl Elton Fuqua Sr. was born August 6, 1954 in Florence, Alabama, the son of Tom Jr. and Shirley Fuqua. Carl graduated from Flint Southwestern High School, “Class of 1973.” He was a longtime resident of Flint. Carl worked at Flint Truck & Bus Assembly Plant from 1973 until he retired in 2000. In his earlier years, he was on the UAW Local #598 Baseball Team. Baseball was his favorite sport to watch and play. Carl loved sports and loved watching his favorite Detroit teams when they played. He also loved to keep his yard neat. Carl was a very neat person and loved to wash his cars. He enjoyed being around his family especially his wife, kids and grandkids. Carl married his wife in 1976 and stayed with her until his death. They were married for 45 years, he loved and adored her with all of his heart. Mr. Carl Elton Fuqua Sr. leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Gail Fuqua; 3 daughters and 3 sons, Cawanna Dukes, Carl Fuqua Jr., Carl Fuqua, Terence Fuqua, Bridgett Fuqua and Felecia Fuqua, all of Flint; 19 grandchildren, Brittaney (Dominic) Peterson, Briahna Dukes, Braylen Dukes, Demarais Coleman, Kayanna Peirson, Keonta Fuqua, Devonta Williams, Alasia Fuqua, Davaion Fuqua, Jaivon Fuqua, Jayden Fuqua, Karshawn Brown, Tyquese Brown, Carl Fuqua, Makeyla Fuqua, Ke’Andre Fuqua, special grandchildren, Kaniya Fuqua, Taylor Waters and Tevin Waters; 6 great-grandchildren, Dominic Wells, Donavyn Wells, Brittyn Peterson, Tylin Fuqua, Treasure Lynn Fuqua and Karson Brown; mother, Shirley Fuqua; 2 sisters, Mary (Lee) Hampton, all of Flint and Karen (Dan) Campbell of Jackson, TN; brother, Donald (Michelle) Fuqua of Flint; 11 nieces including special nieces, Patria Rhea and Makihyla “Ms. Dimples” Bailey; 19 nephews; 5 aunts, Eletha Hill, Annie Ruth Jackson of Cleveland, OH, Betty Waffard, Roberta Stenson and Genice Clark of Jackson, TN; 4 uncles including special uncle, John “Uncle Bo” (Ann) Fuqua of Cleveland, OH; mother-in-law, Rebecca Johnson; 3 sisters-in-law, Christine Johnson, Darline Johnson, all of Flint and Karen Johnson of Duluth, MN; 3 brothers-in-law, Carl Johnson, James “Jolly” Johnson and Marvin (Cynthia) Johnson, all of Flint; a host of other relatives and friends including special friend, brother-in-law, James Johnson. Mr. Fuqua was preceded in death by his son, Terence Fuqua; father, Tom Fuqua Jr.; grandmothers, Odell Robinson and Mary Fuqua; brother, Stephen Fuqua.
