Mrs. Candy L. "Myrtle" Richardson

RICHARDSON, Mrs. Candy L. "Myrtle" - Age 66, passed away Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at Fostrian Health Care Center. Family hour 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at Guiding Light C.O.G.I.C., G-5230 Detroit St., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Supt. Victor B. Adams, officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. Mrs. Richardson will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed at the funeral home from 12 noon-5 p.m. Monday with Memorial Service at Guiding Light C.O.G.I.C., from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. Monday. Candy (Myrtle) Richardson was born on March 11, 1947 in Atoka, Oklahoma. The daughter of the late James and Ollie Harrison. She also lived in Akron, OH, before moving to Flint, MI where she resided until her death. Mother Richardson graduated from Field High School in Akron, OH. She was employed by the Flint Communi¬ty Schools as a teacher’s aide. She was a caring, loving and God fearing woman. Mother Richardson’s favorite scripture was “I shall not die but live and declare the works of the Lord” Psalms 118:17. She was a soldier in the army of the Lord. She was a member of Guiding Light/ Adams Memorial COGIC, where she served as Church Mother, Sun¬day School Teacher, Administrative Assistant and District Missionary. Mother Richardson was a dialysis patient for 23 years but it didn’t hinder her from making it to the house of the Lord. She had a servant’s heart. She loved going to church and being a help to her church and pastor. She was the wife of the late Deacon Royest Richardson. They raised their three children to love God. Mother Richardson left a lega¬cy of a true woman of God. She leaves to cherish her memory and continue her legacy, 3 children: Mr. Dwight (Julie) Harrison, Mrs. Dicy (Robert) Powell and Mrs. Shawnie (Marquise) Powell.; 1 sister: Mrs. Pat (Gerry) Kimble; 3 brothers: Mr. Dean (Patty) Harrison, Mr. Al (Linda) Harrison and Mr. Ray Harrison; 14 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 4 God Children: Shalesha Skelton, Mychal Ray Adams, Darquita Ellison and Whitney Adams; 4 brothers-in-law; 4 sisters-in-law; a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends; including special friends: Mother Corene Wade-Adams and Mother Rosie Watkins. Mother Richardson was preceded in death by her husband, Deacon Royest Richardson and parents, James and Ollie Harrison.
