JONES, Mrs. Candice Ateaya - Age 40, passed away Saturday, December 24, 2022 at her residence. Family hour 10:00 AM Wednesday, January 4, 2023 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Elder Harry Carter, officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and Pallbearers will assemble at the Chapel 10:00 AM Wednesday. Mrs. Jones will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM Tuesday. Ms. Candice Ateaya Jones was born October 29, 1982 in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of James Jones and Lois Jones. She was a resident of Flint and attended Holy Trinity Church. Candice graduated from Flint Beecher High School. She lived in Nashville, TN for 5 years upon returning to Flint she worked for Burgaflex, and currently Gate Guard for Menard’s. Candice enjoyed watching movies, singing, traveling and hanging with cousins and friends. She also enjoyed watching spiritual programs. Ms. Candice Ateaya Jones leaves to cherish her memory: 3 daughters, Ateaya Hardin of Cincinnati, OH, Nacareya Hare and Phoenix Corley, both of Flint; son, Deonta Hardin of Huntsville, AL; mother, Lois (Daniel) White; father, James (Sherita) Jones; grandparents, Erma (Alex) Barnes, Nancy Miller; 2 sisters, Tyra Jones and Crystal (Fredrick) Jones; 7 nieces, Alonna Jones, Miracle, Camila, Trinity, Catera, Porsha Franklin, and Jamyah Christian; nephew, Keonta Williams; 2 aunts, Claudette Pittman and Donna Walker; 4 uncles, Ezra (Linda) Barnes, Woodrow (Bonita) Thompson, Q.B. (Cheryl) Pittman Jr. and Tommie Pittman; 17 cousins, Zemaior, Jessie, Kenyun, Bernard, Woodrow Jr., Jennifer, Tanganeka, Shayla, Shari, Louise, Michelle, Darius, Dana, Deja, Leecia, Tamika and McChellay; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Tiauna Watson family, Tamika Ford Ray, Monique Allen, Ladrena Williams, Ebony Walker, Monica Grass, Tiffany Alexander and family. Ms. Jones was preceded in death by her husband, Alfonzo Corley; grandfathers, Charles Watkins and Herman Wilks; brother, James Jones Jr.; uncles, Jessie Barnes, Dwan Pittman and Timothy Miller; and cousin, Christina Thompson.
