Callie Lyons

LYONS, Mrs. Callie - Age 51, passed away Monday, March 28, 2011 at Genesys Health Park. Family hour 10 a.m. Saturday, April 2, 2011 at New Creations Church of God, G-3472 Lennon Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Pastor Herbert Banks officiating. Interment Lovedale Memorial Cemetery, G-5175 E. Bristol Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10 a.m. Saturday. Mrs. Lyons will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 1-8 p.m. Friday. Mrs. Callie Ann (Moore) Lyons was born November 18, 1959 in Philadelphia, Mississippi, the daughter of J. H. and Annie C. Moore. Callie was raised in Philadelphia, MS and graduated from Neshoba Central High School, “Class of 1977.” She moved to Flint at the age of seventeen. Callie married Phillip Lyons on September 9, 1978 and to this union two children were born, Phillip, Jr. and Aisha. Callie was employed at Genesys Regional Medical Center (FOH) for 33 years. She attended Mott Community College where she received her Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certificate. Callie was a faithful member of New Creation Church of God, where she was a member of the Praise and Dance Team (Faith, Hope and Love) and a member of the Choir. She was a mom to the entire Evergreen Valley neighborhood. Callie enjoyed watching movies and spending time with her five grandchildren. She leaves to cherish her memory: son, Phillip, Jr.; daughter, Aisha; 5 grandchildren, DaMarco whom she raised, Ke’Shaun, Ky’Nieche, Ricaria and Ricardo, Jr., all of Flint; parents, J.H. and Annie C. Moore of Philadelphia, MS; former husband, Phillip Lyons, Sr. of Flint; brother, Abraham (Earnestine) Moore of Philadelphia, MS; sister, Bobbie Nell (William) Nicholson of Noxapater, MS; father and mother-in-law, Melvin (Loucille) Lyons; sisters-in-law, Joyce, Audrey and Jennifer Lyons, all of Flint and Cynthia (DeVal) Hodge, of Huntsville, AL; brothers-in-law, William Lyons of Springfield, MD and Melvin Lyons of Flint; godchildren, Adrik Thomas and Jordan Taylor, both of Flint; six nieces; seven nephews; many aunts, uncles and cousins; special friends, Joyce Britt, Lisa Pennyman, Janice Jamerson, Vickie Berry, Latasha Anderson and devoted play-mother, Gerry Pleasant. Mrs. Lyons was preceded in death by her grandparents. The family would like to express special thanks to Genesys Regional Medical Center ICU and Recovery Units, Dr. Danish, Dr. Mattlingly, Barbara Moore, Ella Polk, Annie Wilson, Silver June Hewitt, Pastor Herbert and First Lady Gloria Banks and the New Creation Church of God Family.
