BRIDGES, Mr. C.L. - Age 85, passed away Sunday, July 15, 2018 at McLaren-Flint. Family hour 10:30AM Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at Antioch Baptist Church, 1083 E. Stewart Ave., with funeral service commencing 11AM. Rev. Daniel Bridges officiating. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Rd., Holly, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30AM Tuesday. Mr. Bridges will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed 12PM - 8PM Monday. Brother C. L. Bridges earned his wings on Sunday, July 15, 2018 at McLaren Hospital in Flint, Michigan surrounded by his loving family. Brother C. L. Bridges was born May 18, 1933 in Salem, Mississippi to the late Daisy Bridges Mark and the late Coy Brady Bridges. He served in the United States Army, based in Fort Benning, GA during the Korean War and in the Army Reserve for 3 years when he was Honorably Discharged. He moved his family, wife, the late Annie Ruth Magee Bridges and infant son, Calvin to Flint, MI for better job opportunities. Bro. Bridges worked at Anderson Tank as a Welder, then was hired by General Motors at Chevrolet Metal Fab, and was a member of UAW Local #659 and became a skilled Trade Welder Repairman. He later went back to school and obtained his G.E.D., he attended trade school to learn Electrical skills also. Brother Bridges was a faithful member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church where he was active in the Sunday School, served on Usher Board #2, served as a Trustee and was a member of the Male Chorus. Bro. Bridges earned the nickname “Video Man” because he recorded all the Gospel events he could, he dubbed them and shared with anyone until his health began to fail. He loved listening to Quartet Hour on 1420 AM, “Radio Lady” winning prizes and playing Gospel Trivia. He was passionate and consistent calling his family and friends weekly to see how they were doing. He loved reading his Bible and the 23rd Psalm was his favorite scripture. Bro. Bridges also loved a good meal and sweets, his favorite was cakes. He will truly be missed. We have lots of awesome memories, had some great laughs and lots of love. Brother Bridges leaves to cherish his memory: daughters, Cheryl Bridges-Radford of Battle Creek, MI and Jacqueline Bridges of Swartz Creek, MI; sons, Gregory and Brian Bridges of Flint; grandchildren, DiAndre and Farrah Bridges of Flint, Brianna and Troya Berry of Fort Worth, TX, Tiara Berry of Ypsilanti, MI, Nevaeh and Brian Bridges Jr., and Quanetta Waters of Saginaw, MI; 9 great-grandchildren; sisters, Lula Lewis of Flint, Nella Wee Brent of Brookhaven, MS, Daisy Bridges and Rosiella (Joe Sr.) Bridges, all of New Orleans; brothers, J.L. Bridges of Winona, MS, Coy (Min. Jacqueline) Bridges, Pastor Daniel (Naomi) Bridges, all of Flint; 9 nieces; 14 nephews; numerous cousins and a host of other relatives and friends including, Antioch Missionary Baptist Church family, Lizzie Cannon, the Warner and Mathis families, Jocelyn Knox, Carolyn Gray, Clemmie Bullock, Jeanie Barnett, Mr. and Mrs. James Ragston, Marion Eley and Ernestine Gray. Brother Bridges was preceded in death by his son, Calvin Bridges (2005); daughter, Melody L. Bridges, (2012); grandson, Calvin B. Bridges, (2001); mother, Daisy Bridges-Mark (1996); father, Coy B. Bridges, (1983); sisters, Lillie Brown, (2006), Bonnie Ratliff (2017); nephews, Don Ratliff (1983) and Vernell Brown Jr., (2015). The family would like to express special thanks to everyone for all your love, support, visits, cards, love, flowers and encouragement during our bereavement.
