Ms. Burnie Glynn Nelson

NELSON, Ms. Burnie G. - Age 61, passed away Friday, May 17, 2024, at Ascension Genesys Hospital. Public Viewing will be held Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W Flint Park Blvd., from 12:00 PM-6:00 PM. Ms. Nelson will be taken to Haynes Mortuary Incorporated, 7238 West 7th St. in Texarkana, TX 75501 for services and burial. Ms. Burnie Glynn Nelson was born December 1, 1962 in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Iseral and Verdell Nelson of Doddridge, Arkansas. She loved the Lord and accepted Christ at an early age at Foss Avenue Baptist Church in Flint. Ms. Nelson was a resident of Grand Blanc Twp., MI and a graduate of Flint Northwestern High School. She went on to graduated from Baker College-Flint and began working for Kettering University began working for Kettering full time in 1989. In 1994, Burnie worked in the Mechanical Engineering Department at Kettering University before moving to Liberal Studies in 1998, where she served as an Administrative Specialist. Upon retiring from Kettering, she continued to work at Carmen-Ainsworth High School and later Grand Blanc Middle School. Burnie G. Nelson was an Author/Publisher of “Where Words & Heart Meet Empowering Women.” she was a Motivational Speaker, she wrote greeting cards and hosted workshops and conferences focused on women at the YWCA Safe House, Carriage Town Ministries and Phinisee Outreach Shelter for Women. Burnie loved the Lord and dedicated her life to minister to others. She was a member of Kingdom of Heaven Ministries and later Agape Faith Fellowship, Birch Run, MI. Ms. Burnie Glynn Nelson leaves to cherish her memory: parents, Iseral and Verdell Nelson of Doddridge, AR; 2 sisters, Pamela (Marvin) Cook of Flint and Belinda Walker of Port Gibson, MS; 2 brothers, Dennis (LaTonya) Nelson of Newington, VA and Vennis (Pamela) Nelson of Springboro, OH; aunts, Rosemary (Alvin) Love, Precious Williams and Arlene Legardye, all of Texarkana, AR; uncles, Raleigh Holmes of Compton, CA, Williard Holmes of Bossier City, LA, Kent Holmes of Inglewood, CA and Willie Nelson of Texarkana, TX; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Ms. Nelson was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, F.S. and Connie G. Holmes; paternal grandparents, Ben and Gracie Nelson; 7 aunts; and 3 uncles. The family would like to express special thanks to Ascension Genesys Hospital ICU doctors and nurses, Angie and Lonnie McNeal, Francelena Nelson and Bernice Nelson for their love and support.
