Mr. Bruce Laroe Walker

WALKER, Mr. Bruce Laroe - Age 69, passed away Sunday, March 16, 2025, at Lavigne Home. Mr. Walker will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed Saturday, March 22, 2025, from 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM. Bruce LaRoe Walker was born December 19, 1955 in Birmingham, Alabama, the son of Howard and Levolia Walker. Bruce LaRoe Walker is the seventh of nine children. He attended Adamsville Elementary and Minor High School in Adamsville, Alabama. After high school, he joined the U.S. Army, and he served his time in Germany. In 1978 he was Honorable Discharge. While in the service, he married Alberta Dumas, from that union two sons were born. Bruce attended Mott College after his active duty with the U.S. Army. Bruce worked for NAACP Credit Union in Flint, Michigan and retiring from the State of Michigan Genesee County DHHS in 2020. Bruce belonged to the Brothers of Distinction Social Club of Flint, Michigan. Bruce enjoyed social baseball and basketball, loved watching movies and sports, special gathering with family and friends, visiting and calling family on Saturday to connect, and he especially liked the work group monthly wine-down time to get a meal. Bruce LaRoe Walker leaves to cherish his memories: mother of his sons, Alberta Walker, 2 sons, Bruce D. Walker of Dallas, TX and Terrence C. (Sameshia) Walker of Birmingham, AL; 2 god-sons, David and Steven Carnell, both of Burton, MI; 3 grandchildren, Kristina Evans of Waxahachie, TX, Terrence C. Walker, Jr. and Taliyah C. Walker, both of Birmingham, AL; 2 sisters, Erma (Alex) Barnes and Sandra A. Walker, all of Flint, MI; 2 brothers, Howard Walker of Dolomite, AL and Mark (Annette) Walker of Flint; 23 nieces, Joyce, Kim, Lois, Donna, Linda #2, Likita, Aqua, Javelin, Arletha, Sylvia, Peoria, Althea, Shurene, April, DeQuetta, Kalesia, Martia, Mechelle, Ashley, Whitney, Jasmine, Donna, and Earnestine; 25 nephews, Perry, Ronnie, Ezra, Rufus, Larenza, Preston, Brushar, Fred, Glen, Melvin, Brent, Terry, Carl, Michael, Danny, Linzie, Jerome, Donald Jr., Demetrius, Ronald, Sheldon John, Ellsworth, Jr., Stevie, Derrick, and Johnathan; great-aunt, Mrs. Minaola Doaty of Cleveland, OH; 4 sisters-in-law, Chrys Wright, Delores Dumas, Earnestine Barkers, and Velora Dumas; 2 brothers-in-law, Donald Dumas and Sheldon Dumas of Birmingham, AL; Beard family in Birmingham, AL; a host of cousins, the Cook, Dantzler, Doaty, Gillium, Nelms, Scott, Walker, White families; including special friends, Tee, Dennis, Robert Earl, Dorothy, Eddie, James, Mark, Juliann, Lisa, Gary, Tim, Michelle-1,2,3, Twins, Melody, Roberta, Jimmy, Gina, Lauren, Alma, Terri, Veronica, Derrick, J. Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Lola Martin-Jernigan, Gearldine (Rufus) Thomas and Estella Walker-Jones, sister-in-law, Linda Walker, brother, Avery Walker, brother-in-law, Ellsworth Dumas, Sr.; grandparents, aunts, uncles, nieces, Pamela, Linda, Catrina, great-nieces, Candace and Tina, nephews Jesse and Barry, great-nephews James, Jr. and Antwan. The family would like to express special thanks to Lavigne Home, McLaren-Flint CCU and ICU, nurses, doctors, staff, all of his co-workers of Michigan State Genesee County DHHS, Dumas family, all family and friends, Cheryl, and acknowledge his help great-nephew Jesse.
