Mr. Bruce Russell Cross

CROSS, Mr. Bruce Russell - Age 55, passed away Friday, June 17, 2016 at University Hospital of San Antonio-San Antonio, TX. Family hour 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 25, 2016 at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, G-5443 N. Saginaw Street, with funeral service commencing at 11:00 a.m. Min. Britney Gaines officiating. Interment Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, G-9506 N. Dort Hwy., Mt. Morris, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:00 a.m. Saturday. Mr. Cross will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., and may be viewed from 12:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Friday. Bruce Russell "Juice" Cross was born August 11, 1960 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Hershell and Mary Frances Cross. He graduated from Flint Northern High School, “Class of 1978,” where he was a well-rounded athlete but Basketball was his passion. On June 14 1994, Bruce happily married Fredricka Bonner Cross his best friend of 37 years and wife of 22 years. He relocated to San Antonio Texas on April 22, 2009. Bruce was loved by everyone. He could easily turn a bad day into a good day with his funny jokes and infectious smile that lit up a room. Bruce enjoyed spending quality time with his wife, children and especially his grandchildren. He loved watching sports, attending live Jazz music festivals and traveling with his wife and friends. In his lifetime, one of his most proud accomplishments was being inducted into the Greater Flint Area Sports Hall of Fame in 2014 for his participation in the Flint Northern High School Boys Basketball Team Class of 1978. Bruce departed this life on June 17, 2016, in San Antonio, Texas. Bruce Russell "Juice" Cross leaves behind to cherish sweet memories: wife, Fredricka Bonner Cross; children, Tiyamieacho "Mecho" (Leroy) Taylor, Aguinaldo Bonner, Edwin, Janae and Ebony Bivens; grandsons, Dequindre, Juelz "JuJu", Aereon and Zayden; mother, Mary Frances Cross; brothers and sisters, Jeffrey (Yolonda) Cross, Lashell (Charles) Brown, Lynn, Vance, Kim, Kimberly, and David Cross; god-daughter, Brittney Green; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends including special cousin, Robert Montgomery and special friends, Mr. Kent Smith and the entire “Class of 1978” Flint Northern Boys Basketball Team, players and coaches. Bruce was preceded in death by his father, Mr. Hershell Cross; grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Henry (Bessie) Gaines, Mr. & Mrs. Jack (Lucille) Large, Mr. Frank Wright; brother, Vincent Cross; five uncles; mother and father-in-law, Mr. Algin (Rosana) Bonner. Bruce was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He touched everyone that he knew in a special way and he will truly be missed.
