DUDLEY, Brother Albert Lee, Sr. - Age 79, passed away Wednesday, June 28, 2006 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Family hour 6PM-8PM Friday, July 7, 2006 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. Family hour 1:30PM Saturday, July 8, 2006, at Detroit Street Church Of God, G-5328 Detroit St., with funeral service commencing immediately at 2PM. Bishop Herbert Dudley, officiating. Interment Monday, July 10, 2006 Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Rd., Holly, MI 48442. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 6PM Friday and at the church 1:30PM Saturday. Mr. Dudley will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed 12Noon-8PM Friday. Brother Albert Lee Dudley, Sr. was born May 13, 1927 in Lakeland, Georgia the son of Willie Albert and Elizabeth (Harris) Dudley Davis. Brother Dudley attended elementary school in Georgia. In 1952, he moved to Flint and graduated from Flint Northwestern High School. Brother Dudley attended Electronic school, received certification for Sign Language, and Co-authored a poetry book: A New Day Sun. He also studied Arabic language and converted his life to Islam for over 50 years. After 36 years of service, Brother Dudley retired from General Motor's Buick Division Local #599. Brother Dudley was Honorably Discharged from the US Navy, where he served in World War II. Brother Albert Lee Dudley, Sr. leaves to cherish his memory: lovely, devoted wife of 40 years, Mildred L. Dudley; 9 children, Angelia (Henry) Carstarphen, Kenneth Lockett, Sr., Dana (Theopolis) Poindexter, Delal (Kevin) Maynor, Kemeliah (Michael) Graham, Albert L. Dudley, Jr., Chiquita (Eric) Cooper, Hasan Dudley, Sr., Hasim Dudley, Sr. all of Mt. Morris; 37 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; 1 devoted sister, Mother Evelyn (John) King of Flint; special nieces and nephews, Dr. Robert (Betty) Miles, Dr. Willie Albert Miles, Dr. Dorothy Roberts, Dr. Florence (Oliver) Moffett, Dr. Grady (Wanda) Miles, Dr. Linda Miles, Dr. Barbarann (Clifford) Pettiford, La'Dean Akins and family; 5 sisters-in-law, Billie (James) Saunders of Cleveland, OH, Ruth (Bobby) Adams of AR, Doris (Ray) of Moreno Valley, CA, Carolyn and Vivian Lockett, both of Flint; 2 brothers-in-law, Gentle James Lockett of AR, Donald (Ann) Lockett of Flint; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other relatives and friends including special friends, Eddie Taylor, Jack Luster and sister, Latifa Kareim. Brother Albert Lee Dudley, Sr. was preceded in death by his daughter, Eula Mae Staley; father, Willie Albert Dudley; mother, Elizabeth (Harris) Dudley Davis; sisters, Beatrice Dudley, Willie Atkinson, and Florence Miles. The family would like to express special thanks to 5 South ICU Staff, 6 Central Nursing Staff, Nutritional Services Department and Staff at McLaren Regional Medical Center, and Dr. Brian Bhagat.
