HOWZE, Mrs. Bridgette Lanette Barbee - Age 53, passed away Thursday, February 1, 2024, at Trinity Health-Oakland. Family hour 10:00 AM Saturday, February 10, 2024, at Spirit of Victory Outreach Ministries, 3397 Windland Dr., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM, Reverend Janard Lakes officiating. Family and friends will assemble at the Church at 10:00 AM Saturday. Mrs. Howze will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed from 12:00 PM-6:00 PM Friday with family present from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM to receive friends. Mrs. Bridgett Lanette Barbee-Houze was born October 24, 1970 in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Dennis Sr. and Karen Barbee. Bridgett graduated from Flint Northwestern High School, “Class of 1989.” She loved college and professional sports. Bridgett also loved football, as she was a true Detroit Lions Fan. She enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and friends; yet she had fed many throughout the community over the years. One of her enjoyments was decorating her home, especially during the holidays. Mrs. Bridgett Lanette Barbee-Houze leaves to cherish her memory: husband, Horace Howze Jr.; daughter, Janaya Smith of Flint; 2 sons, DaiQuan Barbee of Morgantown, WV and Malik Smith of Salisbury, NC; step-children, James Smith of Flint, Tamika Jenkins of Indiana, DiAnthwone Howze of Flint, Quiante Howze of Oklahoma, Tianna Howze of Fort Wayne, IN and Sydni Sims of Greenville, SC; grandchildren, Alexandria “Baby” Marzette, Jonah “Juggy” Marzette, Eris Bonner, all of Flint, Makenslie Smith of Salisbury, NC, Namani Barbee and DaiQuan Barbee II, both of Morgantown, WV; parents, Dennis Sr. and Karen Barbee of Baldwin, MI; sister, Denise (Xaivier) Brown of Birmingham, AL; brother, Dennis Barbee Jr. of Morgantown, WV; nieces, Quayteonia Barbee of Oxon Hill, MD and Gianna “GG Monster” Barbee of Morgantown, WV; nephews, Ishmail Taylor of Flint and Edward Taylor of Phoenix, AZ; aunts, Scinthya Edwards of Helena, AR and special aunt, Evelyn Ward of Flint; uncles, Willie Conley of East Pointe, MI and Erenst Okeke of Selma, AL; sister-in-law, Zena Perry of Memphis, TN; brother-in-law, Anthony Howze of Flint; a host of other cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends including special best friend, Gail Baily.
