THOMAS, Mr. Brian - Age 17, passed away Friday, August 27, 2010 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 7, 2010 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd, with funeral service commencing immediately at 11 a.m. Interment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, G-5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10 a.m. Tuesday. Mr. Thomas will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday. Mr. Brian Keith Gatica Thomas was born February 4, 1993 in Flint, Michigan, the son of Cortensia Read and Brian Thomas. Brian was a resident of Flint, Michigan and attended Flint and Beecher Schools. He enjoyed being a great father, making music, singing, rapping, dancing and playing sports; especially basketball with his uncles. Mr.Brian Keith Gatica Thomas leaves to cherish his memory: daughter, Amere Jada Thomas; parents, Cortensia Read, both of Flint and Brian Thomas of Colorado; grandparents, Thomas, Jr., Esther Gatica and Rosa Hayes, all of Flint; 7 sisters, LaToya Lay (Terrence Humphrey), Brianna Thomas, Katie and Nick’ea Holmes, Jayla, Faith and Brittnay Thomas; 3 brothers, Roy “Tooda Boo” Lay IV, Brodrik Thomas, both of Flint and Brandon Thomas of Denver, CO; niece, Taulaya Humphrey of Flint; 5 aunts, Rhoda Read, Marlo Read, both of Flint, Lisa Thomas of Wyoming, Angel Burgess of Flint and Michelle Thomas of Alabama; 6 uncles, Albert Read, Sr., Robert Read, Ardis Read, Thomas Gatica III, Michael Thomas and Larry Thomas, all of Flint; a host of cousins, other relatives, extended family and friends including best friend and cousin, Albert “AJ” Read, Jr., special friends, Eugene, Chasity, Carl, Kewon, Rasheen, Mz. Bell, Nick, Destiny, Shaniqua and Coby. Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by his grandfather, Clyde Hayes; great grandparents, Luther and Katie Sanderlin, Thomas Sr. and Hortensia Gatica; and aunt, Arlene Miller. The family would like to express special thanks to the Pastor James O. Flowers, Sr. and North Star Baptist Church family, Pastor Kenneth L.
