WILSON, Ms. Brenda Elaine - age 60, passed away Saturday, October 25, 2014 at City Of Hope Medical Center-Duarte, CA. Family hour 10 a.m. Saturday, November 8, 2014 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Rev. Roosevelt Brown officiating. Interment Sunset Hills Association, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10 a.m. Saturday. There will be no public viewing. Ms. Brenda Elaine Wilson was born May 14, 1954 in Conway, South Carolina, to James L. and Betty Wilson. The Wilson’s moved to Flint, Michigan when Brenda was two years old. She attended Martin Elementary, Holmes Middle and Northwestern High School from which she graduated in 1972. Ms. Wilson graduated from the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor with a Bachelors of Science degree in Education. She also obtained her Masters Degree in Education from University Michigan- Ann Arbor. Brenda continued her educational endeavors at the University of California Los Angeles. She moved to Los Angeles, California in 1977. Brenda was employed by the Los Angeles Unified School District where she taught Special Education at Bethune Middle School. While in Los Angeles, she also pursued her love of music, singing and modeling. Brenda was a long time member of First A.M.E Church of Los Angeles and later moved her membership to West Angeles Church of God In Christ. Ms. Brenda Elaine Wilson leaves to cherish her memory: Devoted parents, James L. and Betty Wilson; 3 beloved sisters, Mona Storr, Joyce Wilson and Carla Wilson; 2 adored aunts, Patricia Wilson and Betty Wilson-Jefferson; 6 dearly loved aunts, Ruby Alston, Louise Starcky, Geraldine Hicks, Sara Chapman, Wyonne Wilson and Evelyn Williams; 4 uncles, Robert Wilson, Ronald Jefferson, Cephus Murrell, and Israel Hicks; 2 nephews, Jeremy Storr and Nicholas (Nicole) Wilson; 1 niece Candace (Jeremy) Zenon; special cousins, Sherra Alston-Jones, Leon Hicks, Reginald Alston, Kim Anderson, Gerald (Alberta) Ballard, Kelvin Wilson, Mearldine (Reverend Samuel) Livingston, Vernita Wilson, Autumn Jefferson, Sean Jefferson, Lesa Starcky; a host of other cousins; dedicated friends; Kenneth Bonner and Lydia (James) Battle; extended family, Bernice Neely, Galia Dumas, Rene Tabor, Elsie Scott, Genevieve Dest, Gladys Tingling, Laverne Townsend, Lovette Lea, Minnie Currie, Yolanda Davis, Monina Caramhas and many others. Ms. Wilson was preceded in death by her grandparents, Fred and Zilpha Murrell and Robert and Susan Wilson. The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Anthony Stein, the nursing and medical staff of City of Hope Medical Center in Duarte, California. Due to their hard work and dedication, Brenda remained with family and friends for sixteen years making her the longest living Multiple Myeloma patient at City of Hope. A special thank you is extended to Reverend Roosevelt Brown for his calls and continued prayer for Brenda over the years of her illness.
