Mrs. Brenda Alice Scrivner

SCRIVNER, Mrs. Brenda A. - Age 70, passed away Thursday, May 11, 2017 at McLaren-Flint. Family hour 10:30 AM Saturday, May 20, 2017 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM Pastor Kenneth L. Stewart officiating. Internment Gracelawn Community Cemetery, 5710 N. Saginaw St. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the funeral home 10:30 AM Saturday. Mrs. Scrivner will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 12:00 PM-8:00 PM Friday. Mrs. Brenda Alice Scrivner was born in Alexandria, Virginia January 2, 1947 the daughter of Elizabeth Barber and Willie Stokes. She attended Drew Elementary School in Arlington, VA, Huffman-Boston Junior High School in Arlington, VA, where she was a member of the National Honor Society, and Suitland Senior High School where she graduated in the 10th grade with honors. Mrs. Brenda Alice Scrivner married David Scrivner with whom she had 3 children. She was a devoted mother and cherished her kids. She enjoyed spending time with her family, and around friends, she was the life of the party. She never had a bad thing to say about anyone, and would always help someone in need. She enjoyed listening to music, singing and dancing. Her doors were always open to friends and family, with whom she enjoyed talking about “Old Times”. `Brenda worked at several places including Wallis Supper Club, the Bryant Center, and Chevrolet, division of General Motors Corporation in Flint, Michigan. Mrs. Brenda Alice Scrivner leaves to cherish her memory: 2 daughters, Cheryl (Kevin) Scrivner-McClain of Flint, Tabetha Scrivner of Flat Rock, MI; 3 sons, David (Angie) Scrivner, Marvin (Theresa) Scrivner, and William Scrivner, all of Flint; 11 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 4 sisters, Sheila (Robert) Springs, Valerie Washington, Vera (Charles) Hughes; 3 brothers, William (Del Garcia) Stokes Sr., Floyd Washington and Wayne Washington; a host of other relatives and friends, including special friends; Clearance White, Glory Johnson, Alesia, Marian, Queen Noni Dabney, Brenda Thames and Rayfield Gray. Mrs. Scrivner was preceded in death by her parents, Elizabeth Barber and William Stokes; husband, David Scrivner; and grandson, Richard Scrivner. The family would like to express special thanks to: Aunt Sheila Springs, McClaren Specialty Clinic and everyone who made our mother laugh and smile.
